Congratulations, Dick O’Hern 1760, on 25 years at Germantown Academy in 2026! O’Hern is a member of the Honorary Alumni Class of 1760, an Upper School science teacher, head coach of women’s rowing, and the faculty advisor of GA Environmental Action (GAEA). He was celebrated by fellow Class of 1760 member Becky Pizzino during the annual 25-Year Celebration in June and was joined by his family and Head of School Rich Schellhas 1760. Thank you, Mr. O’Hern, for your dedicated commitment to the students of Germantown Academy!

While Day Campers were preparing for Color War competitions with bubbling-over excitement, in somewhat quieter spaces, campers were developing their creative (and delicious!) side. Sewing camp was making beautiful quilts, pillows, and very small clothes for the sewing mascot, Geoffrey. Kids Kitchen was whipping up delicious sauces for the upcoming sushi meal, and our resident Printmakers created colorful prints from found objects in our Preserve.

At the close of the 2025–26 school year, we celebrated an outstanding group of faculty and staff members whose dedication and contributions enrich our school community.

Congratulations to Distinguished Achievement Award winners Tony Birch, Paul Moffit, Erin Burkholder, Pauline Jones, Kirstin Hartman, Lauren Feinschil, and Brian Grady.

Mission Awards were presented to Janine Bowers, Leigh Serra, MD, Julia Downs, and Nikki Smith.

US English Teacher Alicia Evans was named the William L. Schoff 1760 Memorial Alumni Chair for Distinguished Teaching in English.

The Dove Becker Prize was awarded to Nurse Lori Andress ’88 and Director of Admission, Enrollment & Financial Aid Laura Martin ’82.

Assistant Head of School/Head of Middle School Jonas Jeswald led the grand finale for the Class of 2030 at the end of year Final Assembly in June. Congratulations to the many students that were honored with awards and kudos to Louisa H. ’30 and Connor R. ’30 (and Mrs. Galante) for delivering excellent speeches. The ceremony marked the culmination of the students' Middle School years and recognized their accomplishments, growth, and contributions to the community as they prepare to begin their Upper School journey.

She was celebrated by her third grade teaching team during the annual 25-Year Celebration in June and was joined by her Class of 1988 GA classmates and her family at the event. Congratulations to recent GA graduate Yobosa Idahosa '26 on receiving the prestigious Green Family Foundation scholarship in recognition of her thoughtful vision for using engineering to create meaningful change in underserved communities.

The scholarship required applicants to answer the question, "How do you plan on using your college education to give back to your community?" Idahosa's essay impressed the selection committee with its clear sense of purpose, personal connection, and commitment to expanding opportunities through engineering.
