r to be considered for the primary level classes and 6 years of age by September 1 to be considered for the Elementary classes. TEACHERS
The Primary and Elementary teachers at The Beddow Schools are trained Montessorians and hold Montessori diplomas appropriate to the level they teach, in addition to undergraduate or graduate degrees. The support staff includes administrative professionals and classroom assistants. CURRICULUM
All curricula for the Primary and Elementary levels are founded in a concrete, sensory-based approach to learning across all subjects, in line with the latest cognitive development research in education. HALF-DAY & FULL-DAY PRIMARY
The Half-day Primary class is for students age 5 and under and meets from 8:30 a.m. – noon. The Full-day Primary classes are available for all pre K students, with Maryland state-required rest periods for 3- and 4- year olds, and full day class for children who have reached the age of 5 by September 1st. Admission to the Full-day Primary class is dependent upon readiness and is determined by the teacher and administrative head. School hours for the Full-day Primary classes and Elementary classes are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. EXTENDED DAY
Before and after school care is available for an additional monthly fee from 7:00 to 8:30 am and from 12:00 to 6:00 pm. Extended day care and nap-time hours are available on a first come, first served basis. SCHOOL TOURS
