THE SILENT STRUGGLE - Today our Live Session focuses on anxiety/frustration/depression in children and how that affects their academic, social, physical aspects of life. We will be talking about homeschool and public education platforms.

"Teen depression/mental health is a legitimate crisis that we are in the throes of witnessing. “…anxiety problems, behavior problems, and depression are the most commonly diagnosed mental disorders in children” (CDC, 2023). Amongst children aged 3-17 years in 2016-2019, millions suffer from:

Anxiety 9.4% (approximately 5.8 million)
Behavior problems 8.9% (approximately 5.5 million)
Depression 4.4% (approximately 2.7 million)
Of those 2.7 million, 15.1% had a major depressive episode and 36.7% had persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness (CDC, 2023)."

This was published by C. Gorman in July, 2023. She holds a masters in education and has been a published writer for over 20 years.

Today, my thoughts are with homeschool parents and children. I am learning of so many families that are concerned with their child's anxiety, self-confidence and performance in public/private class rooms, so they are withdrawing them to homeschool.

At BIO Mastery Method, our first concern is each child's well-being and mindset. These skills are taught along with Biology, but we know their focus, mindset, and attitude really do come first. We will teach study habits and take time at the beginning of each lesson to talk a bit about positive mindset and check in where they are each day.
