Every single one of us, regardless of our “parenting style” should admit that we are also humans who are learning along this journey. We need to stop comparing our methods to others, and focus on how we can best meet the needs of our own family.
🤍Our children are looking at our every move (how we talk, act, have relationships with others) and they are learning (taking in the positive and negative aspects) with little to no effort. Maria Montessori called this the absorbent mind.
It’s our job to model, but also explain that it’s normal to have big feelings. Apologize if you react harshly, make a mistake or simply need your child to connect again.
Positive Discipline explained this in three simple words, “connection before correction”. In order to build up the respect, you must have that connection in order to redirect a behavior.
