Happy World Book Day! This holiday is celebrated internationally on April 23rd, being the death date of authors Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare, and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, as well as the birth and death date of several other prominent authors. In the UK and Ireland, however, it is celebrated on the first Thursday of March to avoid coinciding with any school holidays. It is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books, and reading, intended to promote literature and copyright. It also seeks to provide books to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Happy Edible Book Day! This is not an April Fool's Day joke, the Edible Book Festival is a legitimate festival that was started in the year 2000 to honor the birthday of French lawyer, politician, and gastronome Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin, known for his book, "Physiologie du goût." During this international festival, participants create, display, and, of course, consume, books made out of various edible materials. Please make sure any literature you devour today is actually edible, or just stick to consuming it with your eyes!
