I agree with this 100%
One of the biggest misconceptions about dyslexia is that if a child avoids reading, they simply don't want to do it.
But think about it this way...
Most of us don't avoid things we're good at.
We avoid the things that repeatedly leave us feeling frustrated, embarrassed, or unsuccessful.
Many individuals with dyslexia aren't "reluctant readers."
They're readers who have spent years working harder than their peers just to accomplish the same task.
When we shift from asking, "Why won't they read?" to "What is making reading so difficult?" we begin to change the conversation—and the outcome.
Understanding leads to empathy.
Empathy leads to better instruction.
And better instruction changes lives. 💙
