The Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association is an organization made up of graduates of the Fort Smith Police Department’s Citizen’s Police Academy. The CPAAA was organized to serve as ambassadors for the Fort Smith Police Department and to aid the department in various activities deemed to be safe and appropriate for civilians. The CPAAA also seeks to advance the concept of Community Policing

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our President of the Citizens Police Academy Board, Chuck Neuman.
We extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time. We are grateful for the time we shared with Chuck and will cherish the memories he left behind.
We will miss you dearly, Chuck. 🖤💙

WEEK 4 ✅
Use of Force policies 📜—We learned how officers make split-second decisions based on the level of threat, and how every action has to be justified, reasonable, and within policy. 🎯
Then we put it to the test in the use of force simulator! 🎮 Each scenario had everyone thinking fast & realizing just how quickly situations can escalate. It’s not as easy as it looks, and every choice matters. 👏🏻

Week 3 ✅
Tonight we got a behind-the-scenes look at the Dispatch/Communications Unit 📞—and WOW, they are the true first responders! Hearing what they handle daily and how they stay calm under pressure gave us a whole new level of respect 👏🏻
We also dove into patrol officer response 🚓💨 and got hands-on with a mock 911 call—which turned into a live scenario!
On top of that, we learned how to write a police report 📝 and got to check out patrol gear & equipment 🔦

🐾We got to hear from Animal Control and learn how they protect both people and our furry/scaly friends 🐈🐕🐍
🤝🏼 Then, we heard from the Community Relations Unit + Pawfficer Fuzz about building trust and connections within the community 🚔😸

Today, we pause to remember Officer Daniel Martinez, who lost his life in the line of duty on March 23, 2007. His bravery and dedication to keeping Fort Smith safe will never be forgotten. We honor his service and sacrifice.
