We are proud to welcome 32 outstanding students from across Sebastian County as they begin their journey in the 11th year of the Junior Leadership and Career Academy.

Throughout the coming year, these young leaders will explore career opportunities, develop leadership skills, and gain valuable experiences that will help shape their futures. We are excited to watch them learn, grow, and make an impact in our community.

Hey, hey Chaffin…I’m BACK! My name is Emily Young and I am SO excited to return to Chaffin and the Chaffin Science Department as one of your 8th Grade Science teachers after serving as a district administrator for the past three years at Sunnymede Elementary. With 23 years of experience in education, I am thrilled to bring my passion for student growth and success back to the classroom and support these young adults in their pursuit of academic excellence! My husband John and I have three children, Ellie, Mason, and Cooper. As a family we enjoy traveling, spending time at the lake, going to MLB games as often as possible, and visiting as many amusement parks as we can. I look forward to serving the students and families of Chaffin Middle School!

Incredible loss for our school and district. Ms. Johnston served at Chaffin for over 35 years and impacted the lives of literally thousands. She will truly be missed.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Ms. Alica Johnston, a dedicated and beloved Child Nutrition Manager who served the students and staff of Chaffin Middle School for more than 30 years. Through her commitment, kindness, and care, she helped create a welcoming environment where generations of students were nourished and supported each day. May Ms. Alica Johnston rest in peace, and may her memory forever be a blessing.

We are closing out the school year today in the absolute best way possible! 🙌 From our CATS breakfast with Mr. Bailey from Candy Craze to cheering on our students in our **5th annual Basketball Tournament** 🏆⛹️‍♂️ to watching Mr. Clark actually **KISS THE GOAT** 💋🐐 for our recent coin drive, today was unforgettable!

Please help us in welcoming Coach Richard Bracken to the Chaffin family! Coach Bracken will be our head football coach, assist in track, and physical education classes. From Coach Bracken, “Hello Cougar Nation…My name is Richard Bracken and I am thrilled to join the Chaffin community as the 8th Grade Head Football Coach and Track Coach. After 20 years coaching in the Fort Smith School District I am ecstatic to “return home” and make a positive impact at my middle school alma mater! My wife Monique and I have two children, Bridger and Berkeley. As a family we enjoy being outdoors, hiking, camping and spending time at the lake. I look forward to starting a great year at Chaffin Middle School. GO CATS!”
