Join us in welcoming the newest member of Team Southside and the Ramsey Bands staff, Mr. Noah Mellick! From his experience leading successful programs to his passion for creating meaningful musical experiences, Mr. Mellick brings both knowledge and personality to our team. We're excited for our students to learn from him and look forward to an incredible year ahead!

Please help us welcome Mr. Juan Ramos to Chaffin Middle School! Mr. Ramos will join the Chaffin Band program as the Assistant Band Director.

Mr. Ramos is a recent graduate of the University of Arkansas, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with a minor in Native Spanish. During his time at the university, he served as a Drum Major of the Razorback Marching Band for three seasons, including two years as Head Drum Major. Mr. Ramos is excited to begin his teaching career at Chaffin Middle School and looks forward to supporting the continued growth and success of the Chaffin band program.

In his free time, Mr. Ramos enjoys spending time with friends and family, working on cars, and supporting the Razorbacks.

BIG news! Mr. Brick Wasson is now the assistant director of bands and director of the Jazz Band at Southside High School! Mr. Wasson, who recently completed his Masters Degree in Music Education, has been an integral part of the Ramsey and Southside Band programs’ success the past four years. We are thrilled to see Mr. Wasson’s work in our program continue in this new role!

Congratulations to Ramsey 7th Grade Band Director Mr. Brick Wasson on the completion of his Master’s Degree in Music Education from Arkansas Tech University!

Two opportunities to hear great music performed by truly outstanding students!

A BIG congratulations to these Southside Maverick Band students who earned a total of 21 spots in the all-state bands!! We are incredibly proud of their hard work, and very proud of all who qualified to try out! GO MAVS!

The MLK Parade was cold but fun! We enjoyed combining with the Grizzly Band to celebrate MLK Day with our great city! Special thanks to our Band Boosters for having hot chocolate and snacks ready for our chilly kiddos after the parade 🥶☕️🍫❤️
