Apply to ACHE OT - Occupational Therapy The School of Occupational Therapy (ACHE OT) has a limited number of spaces; therefore, the admission process is competitive. The admission process, which reflects ACHE’s mission, employs a rigorous review process in order to provide an individualized and holistic evaluation of every application.

Yilda Rodriguez, a third-year OTD student, recently presented “Survival Spanish for Hand Therapy” at the Arkansas Hand Therapy Society meeting on July 2, alongside her Fieldwork Educator, Grant Camden, OTR/L, CHT! 🌟

Their presentation underscored the importance of understanding frequently used Spanish words and phrases in healthcare and hand therapy. They emphasized that even a basic knowledge of a patient’s native language can strengthen communication, build rapport, and improve the therapeutic experience. Attendees also learned foundational language concepts to help bridge communication barriers in the clinic.

We’re so proud to see our students and fieldwork educators sharing their expertise and advancing culturally responsive, client-centered care!

We extend a special thank you to Grant Camden for his outstanding mentorship of Yilda and for providing opportunities that support her professional growth.

Our students recently had the opportunity to learn from Dr. Mandy Yelvington, a nationally recognized burn rehabilitation specialist, researcher, and occupational therapist at Arkansas Children's Hospital.

As one of only 40 Certified Burn Therapists, Dr. Yelvington shared her expertise on burn rehabilitation, scar management, and the critical role occupational therapists play in helping individuals recover function and return to meaningful lives.

Experiences like these bring the classroom to life, allowing our students to learn directly from leaders who are advancing both clinical practice and research while providing exceptional care to patients every day.

In the Introduction to Occupational Therapy course, our first-year students planned and prepared a budget-friendly group meal using ingredients from our hydroponic gardens, the ACHE's Campus Cupboard, and vending options. 🥗🌟

By learning the routine of nutrition management, students gain valuable skills they'll one day use to help patients regain independence in meaningful daily activities after injury or illness. This activity was completed in collaboration with "Grow Greens, Get Healthy," a health promotion research project promoting nutritious meal preparation for students and their future occupational therapy practice.

What a wonderful weekend celebrating the occupational therapy profession at the Arkansas Occupational Therapy Association - AROTA Annual Conference! 🌟

ACHE Occupational Therapy faculty, students, and alumni were proud to contribute 18 workshops, presentations, and posters this year, reflecting our commitment to scholarship, service, and the advancement of the profession.
