For those of you who plan out your week's wardrobe in advance, here's your reminder: Wednesday is an early-release day AND a competition between the schools. Wear your FSKNEA t-shirt to school that day, snap a pic of you sporting your shirt and send it to one of your building reps. The building with the highest percentage of participation will receive a treat from FSKNEA. Building reps are:
WS/PS - ShayLynn Clements and Cindy Satterfield
EW - Mina Query and Kerry Pommier
MS - Kari Messer and Jayci Cosens
HS - Morgan Felt and Brian Pommier

Also, if you are planning to attend this month's board meeting, it is one week earlier than usual due to parent/teacher conferences. It will be Monday, March 1, at 5:30. The location is the FSMS Commons area.

Security Benefit, OFG Financial, and KNEA have partnered to provide 100 teachers across Kansas with $100 grants to help with out-of-pocket expenses that they incur. Five of our district’s teachers have been selected for this award. Congratulations to Alexandra VanSickle, first grade teacher, Mercedes Judy, second grade teacher, Michelle Defebaugh, Title I teacher from Winfield Scott, Kristin Duffey, fifth grade teacher from Eugene Ware, and Kelly Toll, seventh grade teacher from Fort Scott Middle School!

Thank you to all who attended one of the Zoom meetings yesterday or sent your vote by proxy. The contract proposal passed with 94% approval.

The KNEA and BOE teams met today and came to a tentative agreement regarding the 2020-2021 school year. We finally came to an agreement after numerous meetings. We will have two Zoom ratification meetings this Monday, July 13th at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. please check your school email for the link to each meeting. Please plan to attend just ONE of the meetings, so you may vote on the contract. If you are unable to attend either meeting, please send your proxy vote to one of the KNEA negotiations team members.

We have a Zoom negotiations meeting today at 2 pm to continue working on next year’s contract. Certified staff should have received an email yesterday with the telephone number to call into if they’re interested in listening to the meeting.

A message to you from our president, Brenda Hill:

You may have seen the yard signs going up around town, or maybe you have already received your sign. I just wanted to let you know that if you haven't received your yard sign yet, it should be arriving soon. Volunteers are working to get them delivered. For those of you living outside of Fort Scott, it may take a little longer. Should you have any tips for finding your house, or if you prefer to pick up your sign in Fort Scott, just let me know. Also,if your address has changed since the start of last school year, please let me know. I want to make sure your sign goes to you. In case you haven't seen one of the signs, I have attached a preview.
