Our 7th grade students took learning outside the classroom on a field trip to Konza Prairie! 🌾

Konza protects part of Kansas’s remaining tallgrass prairie and gives researchers a place to study how plants, animals, grazing, fire, and weather shape this ecosystem. Seeing the prairie firsthand helped students understand why caring for this Kansas landscape matters. 📚 Mrs. Miller’s Book Review: Lion’s Run by Sara Pennypacker 🦁

Set during World War II, Lion’s Run is a historical fiction story that gives middle school readers a look at what life was like for young people during a time of war, uncertainty, and change.

I enjoyed how Sara Pennypacker brings history into the story through the experiences of young characters, making the WWII setting feel personal and understandable. It’s a great choice for readers who enjoy historical fiction, friendship, courage, and stories about ordinary people living through extraordinary times.
