Eric Roel Gonzalez
Funeral services for Eric Roel “Gonzo” Gonzalez will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the Pentecostals of Alexandria (Main Sanctuary) with Reverends Anthony Mangun and Gentry Mangun officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Fort Johnson Honor Guard. Committal service will follow at Union Hill Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Visitation will be on Monday, March 18, 2024, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., and will resume Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Eric, 39, of Lafayette, entered eternal rest on March 13, 2024. He was born January 21, 1985, in Alexandria, Louisiana to Robert Gonzalez and Deborah Ebare Burnaman. Eric graduated with full honors from Bolton High School. He was kind and well mannered. He was an excellent chef and loved grilling. Eric was the most loving, caring person who always placed others before himself.
Eric was proud to serve in the United States Army National Guard. He was the Recipient of The Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Iraq Campaign Medal.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest P. Sr. and Roxie Ann Ebare; Domingo and Raquel Gonzalez; brother, Matthew Gonzalez, and an angel baby.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his parents, Robert Gonzalez of Pineville and Deborah Ebare Burnaman of Houma; his fiancée, Lauren Luquette of Lafayette; sister, Marissa Rabon of Alexandria; niece, Ashlynn Gray; nephew, Maxx Rabon; brother-in-law, Mark Rabon; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
