Welcome to the Nest Mrs.Burford! 💚

Mrs. Dawn Burford joins the Dan McCarty Middle School family as our Sixth Grade Math Teacher, bringing a wealth of experience, dedication, and a heart for helping students succeed. She is certified in Elementary Education (K–6), Exceptional Student Education (K–12), and Middle School Mathematics (Grades 5–9), and also holds a Reading Endorsement and a Civic Seal of Excellence.

Mrs. Burford is passionate about creating a positive, inclusive classroom where every student feels valued, challenged, and supported. She believes that with encouragement, meaningful relationships, and high expectations, all students can grow in confidence and reach their full potential. This year, a select cohort of students from each grade level will participate in our AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program. As we continue our Roadmap to an A-Rated School, AVID strategies—including Focused Note-Taking, Writing Across the Curriculum, organization, and increased academic rigor—will be embedded in every core academic classroom.
