As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, we’re giving some of our very own Dan McCarty Middle School students the spotlight to share where they are from and celebrate the roots that make them who they are. 🎥✨

Their voices remind us that our school’s story is shaped by the cultures, traditions, and experiences each student brings to our campus. We are proud of who they are and grateful for all they add to our Eagle family!

The month may be ending, but celebrating our students’ heritage and helping them feel seen, valued, and connected continues every day. 🦅

Join us November 2–6 for a week of school spirit, fun, and memories!

🏐 Monday, November 2 — Green & Gold Day
Wear your school colors and cheer on our volleyball team as we host CAST! Students wearing green or gold may stay after school for the game.

😎 Tuesday, November 3 — Student Skip Day
Enjoy your designated day off during Homecoming Week!

🎪 Wednesday, November 4 — Twin Day & Carnival
Coordinate with a friend, then join us on the track for bounce houses, face painting, games, and a DJ! Pizza, hot dogs, and icy treats will be available.

✨ Thursday, November 5 — Glow Party During Lunch
Get ready to glow, dance, and celebrate with your fellow Eagles!

👕👑 Friday, November 6 — College Jersey Day & Homecoming Dance
Represent your future college, then join us from 6–8 p.m. for our Homecoming Dance and the crowning of our Homecoming King and Queen!

🎟️ $30 VIP Package(Limited)
Includes access to all Homecoming activities, plus hot dogs and one snack item at the carnival! All Activities purchased separately and additional items will have individual fees.

🦅 Behavior matters! Repeated disruptions and discipline referrals may prevent participation. Make good choices so you can enjoy!

🌟 Hispanic Heritage Spotlight: Mr. Joshua Oviedo! 🌟

Mr. Oviedo brings nearly 10 years of experience in education and a personal connection to the students he serves. Spanish was his first language, and as a former ESOL student, he understands the challenges of learning a new language and the difference encouragement and support can make.

After growing up in Indiantown, Mr. Oviedo recently moved to Fort Pierce and joined our Dan McCarty Middle School ESOL team. He immediately made a huge impact—supporting our students, building meaningful relationships, and creating connections that help them feel understood, valued, and confident.

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we proudly recognize the experiences, passion, and dedication he brings to our school. We are so proud and happy to have Mr. Oviedo as part of our Eagle family! 💚💛🦅

Meet Mr. Darrion Henry! 🇨🇺🇺🇸

Born and raised in Baltimore, Mr. Henry proudly embraces both his Black and Cuban heritage. His story reminds our students that identity is rich and layered—and that they never have to choose one part of themselves over another.

A graduate of Keiser University with degrees in Biomedical Science and Educational Leadership, Mr. Henry teaches sixth- and seventh-grade science at Dan McCarty Middle School. His passion goes beyond science: he wants every student to believe that their circumstances do not determine their future.

Through his nonprofit boxing organization, A Future Worth Fighting 4, he brings that same heart to mentoring young athletes through discipline, education, and athletics.

Mr. Henry is also learning Spanish to deepen his connection to his Cuban roots and better support students learning English. His goal is to help every child feel welcomed, understood, and capable of greatness.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate Mr. Henry’s roots, his journey, and the heart he brings to our Eagle family. 💚💛

💚💛 What a beautiful evening of culture, pride, and connection at Dan McCarty Middle School’s Hispanic Heritage Night!

Tonight, we celebrated the rich cultures and traditions of our Hispanic community and provided a platform for our families to be seen, honored, and celebrated. The beautiful energy and fantastic performances filled our campus with joy. Seeing our students and families proudly share their heritage made the evening especially meaningful. ❤️

We are deeply grateful to our community partners who continue to show up for our Eagle family: the Migrant Educational Program, the Connection Center, Treasure Coast Food Bank, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Prevention Central, Indian River State College TRiO Program, Fort Pierce Parks and Recreation, and Boys and Girls Club.

Through the Connection Center’s work connecting families to school and valuable resources, our partnership with Treasure Coast Food Bank, and the support of each organization, we continue to strengthen the bonds between our school and community.

Thank you to our students, families, staff, performers, and partners for bringing everyone together. Tonight was a heartfelt celebration of who our families are, the stories they carry, and the richness they bring to our Eagle family. 🦅✨
