🏛️ Day 3 at Florida 4-H Legislature! 🍀

Today was a busy day of leadership, teamwork, and hands-on learning at the Florida Capitol!

Our Lobbyists had the opportunity to tour the Florida Supreme Court and participate in a mock court experience, learning firsthand about Florida's judicial system and the important role the courts play in state government. After lunch, they stepped into a different role during a mock legislative experience, gaining a deeper understanding of the lawmaking process from multiple perspectives.

Meanwhile, our Representatives and Senators were hard at work attending strategy meetings, presenting bills, debating legislation, and voting during House and Senate sessions. Through thoughtful discussion and collaboration, several bills successfully passed their respective chambers and are now awaiting action from the Governor.

Tomorrow, those bills could be signed into "law" by none other than our own 2026 Florida 4-H Governor, Summer Wayne! 🎉

From public speaking and critical thinking to civic engagement and leadership, our St. Lucie County delegates continue to represent our county with professionalism and enthusiasm. We are so proud of all they have accomplished so far this week!

💗 On Wednesdays We Wear Pink... Except This Year It Was Tuesday!

One of the many fun traditions of Florida 4-H Legislature is wearing pink on Wednesday. If we're being honest, we're not entirely sure where the tradition started, but like many Legislature traditions, it's one that participants look forward to each year!

This year, however, we were requested to wear green on Wednesday for a statewide group photo. While 4-H'ers love their traditions, they also know the importance of being flexible and adapting when needed.

So, in true Legislature fashion, delegates simply shifted the tradition and wore pink on Tuesday instead! 💗🍀

Traditions help connect generations of 4-H members and create lasting memories, but one of the greatest lessons of 4-H is learning to be adaptable, work together, and make the best of every situation.

We're proud of our St. Lucie County delegates for embracing both the fun traditions and the flexibility that make Florida 4-H Legislature such a unique experience.

🏛️ Day 2 at Florida 4-H Legislature! 🍀

Today, the halls of the Florida Capitol came alive as delegates officially kicked off Florida 4-H Legislature!

The day began with the Opening Session, where participants were sworn into their roles as Governor, Senators, Representatives, and Lobbyists.

Following the opening ceremonies, delegates got to work in committee meetings, where proposed bills were introduced, debated, and discussed. Lobbyists met with legislators to advocate for their bills, giving members valuable experience in communication, public speaking, and the legislative process.

From thoughtful discussions to passionate advocacy, Day 2 was filled with leadership, learning, and civic engagement. We are incredibly proud of all of our St. Lucie County 4-H members for representing our county with professionalism, confidence, and enthusiasm.

We're excited to see what tomorrow brings as Florida 4-H Legislature continues!

Day 1 of Florida 4-H Legislature is officially underway in Tallahassee!

We're especially proud of our St. Lucie County 4-H Planning Committee members—Summer, Kylee, and Jessie—who have spent months helping prepare for this event alongside fellow Florida 4-H Executive Board members. Today, they had the opportunity to welcome delegates from across the state and help kick off an exciting week of leadership, learning, and civic engagement.

Throughout the week, youth will step into the roles of legislators, develop public speaking and leadership skills, debate mock bills, and gain a firsthand understanding of how state government works, all while building friendships with 4-H'ers from across Florida.

We can't wait to see all they accomplish this week. Good luck to all of our St. Lucie County 4-H members as they represent our county with pride!

Recently, St. Lucie County 4-H Program Specialist Candy visited students at the Academy of PSL for an engaging Pet Care program!

Students had the opportunity to meet some adorable furry friends while learning what it takes to be a responsible pet owner. Through hands-on experiences and discussion, they explored the importance of choosing a pet that fits their family's lifestyle, understanding the responsibilities that come with pet ownership, and providing animals with the care they need to thrive.

Programs like this help youth build compassion, responsibility, and decision-making skills while fostering a lifelong appreciation for animals.

A big thank you to the Academy of PSL for welcoming us—we had a wonderful time learning together!

🌲⚡ Wrapping Up Discovery Camp with Science and Adventure! ⚡🌲

Today marked the final day of St. Lucie County 4-H Discovery Camp, and what a fantastic way to end an incredible week!

Campers started the day with hands-on circuit building activities, exploring electricity and engineering while putting their problem-solving skills to the test. 💡

Next, we headed to Jonathan Dickinson State Park for a day of outdoor exploration and discovery. One of the highlights was learning all about Florida's native snakes and meeting a very special guest—JD, an 18-year-old, 7-foot-long Eastern Pine Snake! 🐍

Campers also enjoyed a guided hike through the park, where they learned about Florida's unique ecosystems and wildlife. Afterward, they completed a scavenger hunt from the comfort of the visitor center, giving everyone a chance to cool off while continuing their adventure.

As Discovery Camp comes to a close, we're so proud of all our campers for their curiosity, enthusiasm, and willingness to try new things. Over the past week, they explored agriculture, STEM, natural resources, aquaculture, and the outdoors while making new friends and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

A huge thank you to our campers, families, volunteers, staff, and community partners for making this week such a success. We have had an amazing time and can't wait to do it all again next year! 🍀💚
