The first nine weeks is over, and we finally got our picture hanging wire and shelves up on the gallery wall. Students completed their first major, multi-part project, "Word Art", a few weeks ago, and now the top-graded projects from each period are on display.

Hello parents! For the last two weeks, DMMS has been balancing out schedules and we've finally reached a point of stability, allowing us to move forward with projects. All grades currently have the same project: Word Art.

This project asks two essential questions: "Who am I?" and "What matters to me?" Students are to choose a word that represents a value to them or use their name to express a form of self-reflection.

In this project, students are practicing basic and complex shapes like rectangles and arrows. Then they explore those shapes in 3D form. Students have been shown three different methods to create 3D forms, including 45-degree lines, duplicated or copied shapes, and 1-point perspective.

They are currently brainstorming (6) variations of their word/name, due Friday. By Monday, they should be working on their final drafts.
