Twenty-five years later, we remember.
This week, 2,977 American flags were placed across the front of our campus—one for each life lost on September 11, 2001.
Today, our Verot community gathered to remember those lives, to hear the personal stories of those who experienced that day, and to pray together as one school.
Speaking one day after the attacks, St. John Paul II offered a prayer that remains just as meaningful 25 years later:
“But faith comes to our aid at these times when words seem to fail. Christ’s word is the only one that can give a response to the questions which trouble our spirit. Even if the forces of darkness appear to prevail, those who believe in God know that evil and death do not have the final say.”
For a generation of students born long after September 11, today was about more than learning the history. It was about remembering the lives behind it, honoring the courage and sacrifice that followed, and understanding why we continue to pause and remember.
May we never forget.
