My student Rick's designs from class. While most of my classes are on hiatus because of the Summer heat Rick brings his own flowers so we can play!

I like to see how animals and bees interact with nature. It is symbiotic relationship without which the materials we need for Ikebana would not exist! Also I just like taking micro pictures:-)

I liked how the Ge**er Daisy's colors match that of the Bird of Paradise. I used left over flowers from class. Never let a flower go to waste.

The design on the left is from a 1960’s textbook. I modernized it by using a more contemporary container. The design on the right is from our Iemoto’s mothers design book form 1996 when she was head of our school. I like the emphasis is on the leaves of the Iris and not the flower itself. The hibiscus is the focal point.

My student Rick’s designs. Today we experimented with a new design that will be in the intermediate textbook that should come out 2027. The design is the same in both, but we changed the container. When doing a design the container plays a very import part of the design as a whole.
