Dunbar High Schooll ‘Tiger Brigade” 9/11 Tribute

On 11SEP, the Dunbar JROTC “Tiger Brigade” conducted a remembrance ceremony to honor the victims and first responders of 9/11. Dr. Carl Burnside, the Dunbar High School Principal and Cadet Colonel Esster Brute, the Tiger Brigade Commander, placed flowers at the base of the school’s flagpole. Red flowers represent the 2,977 lives that were lost 25 years ago, and the white flowers represent our grief for the lives lost, our gratitude for those who sacrificed, and our enduring resolve as united people. Following the placement of the flowers, Cadet Emily Garcia Meza performed Taps with her trumpet following a moment of silence.

Following the remembrance ceremony, Major (R) Bennett led 44 Cadets on a staff ride to Braden Park (Cape Coral), to visually witness 2,977 flags, representing the lives that were lost. The Dunbar JROTC Color Guard and Cadet Emily Garcia Meza, honored the site with a moment of silence and musical performance of Taps.
