Tomorrow is Lifesaver Day for the 2026 Lee County Heart Walk! ❤️

Lifesaver Day serves as a rallying point to inspire as many people as possible to join the movement and help turn a community of bystanders into a nation of lifesavers.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide, with stroke ranking second. That’s why raising awareness, promoting prevention, and teaching lifesaving skills like Hands-Only CPR are more important than ever.

Our College has proudly supported the Lee County Heart Walk for many years, and we are excited that FGCU will once again serve as the host site for the walk for the second consecutive year. Together, we hope to make this year's event the biggest and most impactful yet.

We encourage you to sign up, learn Hands-Only CPR, and join us in supporting the mission of the American Heart Association. Every walker, volunteer, and advocate helps create a healthier community and a nation of lifesavers.

Each year, the dedicated advising team in the Marieb College of Health & Human Services (MCHHS) hosts the MCHHS Advising Corner series. These sessions are designed to help students stay informed, plan for success, and connect with valuable resources that support their academic and professional goals.

Our first session of the academic year will take place September 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Students are invited to join virtually and hear from program experts about clinical rotations, experiential learning, and field education, including key expectations and essential information to help them prepare for these important experiences.

We are proud to announce that the most recent graduating class of our Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program has once again achieved a 100% first-time pass rate on the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE)!

Even more impressive, this is the third consecutive year our program has reached this milestone, a distinction achieved by only a select number of DPT programs nationwide.

This outstanding achievement reflects not only the hard work, perseverance, and commitment of our students, but also the exceptional education, mentorship, and support provided by our dedicated faculty and staff throughout their academic journey.

Congratulations to our graduates as they embark on the next chapter of their careers, and thank you to the entire DPT team whose tireless efforts help make these successes possible!

Our inaugural Weeks of Welcome Breakfast with College Leaders was a tremendous success yesterday! We loved meeting our newest Eagles and reconnecting with our returning students as we kicked off another exciting year together.

This past Friday, our College gathered at Arthrex for our annual retreat, marking the start of another exciting academic year at Florida Gulf Coast University.

The retreat continues to be a valuable opportunity to welcome our newest faculty and staff, hear updates on the state of the College from our Dean, celebrate faculty scholarship projects supported through our micro-grant program, recognize recipients of the Marieb Excellence Awards, and gain insights from University leadership on priorities and opportunities for the year ahead.

This year, we were also excited to feature a new interactive scholarship networking activity led by Dr. Daniel Credeur, our new Arthrex Director of Research and Career Readiness. The session fostered meaningful connections and highlighted opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across the College.

We would like to extend our congratulations to all of this year's Marieb Excellence Awards recipients. Your dedication, leadership, and service continue to make a lasting impact on our College community.

Finally, thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the retreat program. Your engagement, enthusiasm, and commitment helped make this year's retreat a meaningful and successful kickoff to the academic year. We look forward to another year of collaboration, scholarship, and excellence.

Marieb College is pleased to introduce our new Department Chair of Health Sciences and Professor, Dr. Jessica Dolecheck.

Dr. Dolecheck joins us from the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM), where she served as Department Chair and Program Director for Health Studies. She earned her PhD in Health Professions and Related Clinical Sciences from Nova Southeastern University and is a widely published scholar with a strong record of academic leadership and innovation.

Throughout her career, Dr. Dolecheck has made significant contributions to student success, including expanding internship opportunities and strengthening experiential learning programs. We are excited to welcome her to the Department of Health Sciences, the Marieb College of Health & Human Services, and the Florida Gulf Coast University community.
