The first day of school can already feel like an overwhelming challenge. New subjects, new teachers, and potentially even a new school? Is it the end of the world?! 🌎☄️😱 Not really but for some it’s more stressful especially as the year continues and struggles are realized.

One thing a lot of people will tend to sacrifice in the name of getting an assignment done on time or studying for tomorrow’s big exam is… SLEEP 🛌

Burning the midnight oil once in a blue moon is ok but only if you return to your circadian rhythm. Otherwise you’re asking to be more moody, forgetful, fatigued, and most of all… a severe coffee addict like I once was in early college 🙃

So if you want to always have a sharp mind and a good attitude, make sure to schedule those 7-8hrs of sleep along with what you’re trying to get done each day!! Otherwise you will be like Squidward ⬇️😵‍💫

My last post I talked about studying and making habits to study. Although finding the motivation to do it can be a struggle. This is where studying with others can be a benefit! Forming study groups can allow for more inputs on a subject and socialization with classmates you would have never talked to before! Just make sure you and your study group are staying on topic of course… 😆

As the first day of classes inches closer and closer I think it’s important to discuss study habits. Even if your child (or yourself for that matter) studies a topic for just 30min/day they will already be on their way to learning and memorizing what they need to know.

Building this simple habit early on will help them in more difficult and compact studies in the future such as SATs, ACTs, and college level courses. Believe me… once I learned how to study consistently college was much easier haha…

One of my funniest experiences tutoring someone was when I was taking AP Physics in high school. Someone from a different high school taking a program similar to AP needed help with their physics homework. Couldn’t be too different from what I was learning in class right? Well… apparently their class was a little ahead of mine so before each session I had to study a few chapters ahead of my class to ensure I could help out this student with their homework haha…

On the bright side it really helped me ace my exams in class (and hers too!) 😅

Today is a busy time. Many parents need this time to focus on their jobs to make ends meet and have quality time with their family. Math and science are not the easiest subjects for everyone. Even parents will have a difficult time referring back to when they used algebra and stoichometry in school!

This is how I want to help. If your child (Elementary - High School) is struggling in math and science classes, I can be their tutor for $18/hr and provide them with help on their homework, specific subjects, and individual attention to pass their classes!
