Today was one of my students last days. We played a learning game from Fidget Games (check them out, I love them)
Somehow I kept getting the “give a fidget to the other person”. I lost….

Fort Mill schools end this week, but learning doesn’t have to stop. ☀️📚
If your child didn’t do as well as hoped on their final report card, struggled with reading or math this year, or things are just starting to finally “click,” summer is the perfect time to keep that momentum going.
Summer tutoring can help:
• Strengthen foundational reading and math skills
• Prevent the summer slide
• Build confidence before the new school year
• Give students extra time without the pressure of the classroom
I offer individualized tutoring in:
📖 Structured Literacy, OG, and EBLI
➕ Foundational Math Support
Limited summer spots are available in Fort Mill and Rock Hill.
Message me for more information or to schedule a Literacy or Math Launch assessment.
Math Series — Day 5
Math practice does not have to look like worksheets all the time.
Real-life math is powerful learning.
Try:
• Baking and measuring ingredients
• Budgeting at the store
• Telling time
• Sports statistics
• Building with LEGOs
• Board games with counting and strategy
Children learn best when math feels meaningful.
Math Series — Day 4
Word problems are often reading problems AND math problems.
Help your child by teaching them to:
✔ Highlight important information
✔ Cross out unnecessary details
✔ Draw pictures or models
✔ Explain the problem aloud
✔ Solve step-by-step
Slowing down improves accuracy.
Reading & Literacy Series — Day 4
If reading homework feels exhausting every night, your child may be working TOO hard to decode.
Signs a child may need extra reading support:
• Guessing at words
• Skipping endings
• Slow reading
• Trouble spelling simple words
• Avoiding reading
• Complaining reading is “too hard”
Reading struggles are not caused by laziness.
With the right instruction, children CAN improve.

Plans for parent literacy coaching. Perfect for homeschool families, and public school families who want to provide help but can not afford tutoring such as Orton Gillingham.

Facing reading difficulties with your child and struggling to afford Orton Gillingham tutoring? Or are you a homeschooling parent seeking a scientifically-backed reading program?
UFLI Foundations could be the perfect fit. It's a program grounded in Structured Literacy and Science of Reading principles, aimed at enhancing decoding and encoding abilities.
UFLI supports all learners, including those with dyslexia, in developing robust reading skills. While designed for K-2 students, it also caters to older students needing foundational reading skills reinforcement.
UFLI Foundations is notable for its explicit instruction, research-backed methodology, affordability, and free online resources. For coaching participants, acquiring the UFLI Foundations manual, costing about $70, is necessary for guided lessons.
This option suits families looking for structured literacy approaches and affordable, effective reading support at home. Through coaching, parents learn how to teach reading skills effectively and support their child with confidence.
Math Series — Day 3
Math anxiety is REAL.
When children feel rushed or embarrassed, they often shut down.
Ways parents can help:
• Normalize mistakes
• Praise effort, not speed
• Avoid saying “I was bad at math too”
• Let children explain their thinking
• Focus on understanding, not just answers
Confidence plays a huge role in math success.
Reading & Literacy Series — Day 3
Vocabulary matters more than many parents realize.
Children understand reading better when they understand WORDS.
Build vocabulary naturally through:
• Conversations at dinner
• Reading nonfiction books
• Listening to audiobooks together
• Explaining new words in everyday life
• Asking children to describe things in detail
The more words children know, the easier reading becomes.
