Steady Nutrition and Continued Education

Uganda Family Spirit (UFS), our School Partner in Masindi, consistently provides three balanced meals a day to an average of 266 children under their care. This steady nutrition has had a tangible impact on children’s health, with noticeable reductions in illness.

As education at UFS only goes through primary school, the school’s leadership reached an understanding with several local secondary schools and institutions to allow 35 students, 24 who joined in 2024 and 11 who joined in 2025, to continue their studies without full funding support.

These students sat for their end-of-year exams and are progressing into the next academic term. This is truly a significant step toward access to higher education for these 35 students.

Ashley is a 16-year-old student in her second year of high school at Unidad Educativa “Atacames.” She lives with her parents and sisters and has been part of the Education Equals Hope program for three years.

Ashley’s family faced a difficult time when her younger sister became seriously ill. At first, doctors were unable to determine what she had and the family was given little hope. Eventually, they traveled to another city where her sister received a proper diagnosis. During that time, Ashley prayed faithfully for her sister and witnessed how God answered her prayers, strengthening her faith.

Ashley is a calm and family-oriented young woman who enjoys spending time at home watching TV with her sisters. Her favorite subject is Language, and she dreams of becoming a nurse so she can help others in times of need.

Through the scholarship program, Ashley receives support to continue her studies and keep moving forward despite the challenges her family has encountered.

When Ashley hears the word “hope,” she thinks of the promise of a brighter and better future.

Rose is a 41-year-old mother of three living in Silongilo. As a devoted wife and parent, Rose works hard to care for her children, Joseph (11, Grade 6), John (9, Grade 5), and Derick (8, Grade 3). Like many families in the community, accessing clean and safe drinking water has long been a daily challenge.

For years, the family relied on a flowing stream located about one kilometer from their home. While it was their only source of water, it often exposed them to waterborne illnesses. Frequent cases of diarrhea meant the children regularly missed school, affecting both their health and education.

Everything changed in October 2025 when the family received a water filter. During a follow-up visit on December 9, 2025, the impact of this powerful solution was clear. The family now uses clean, filtered water for drinking and the results have been life-changing.

The children’s smiles tell a powerful story, one of better health. They shared that they no longer miss school due to illness.

Rose and her children expressed deep gratitude to HOPE 2 OTHERS for the filter and for the way it has transformed their daily lives.

This family’s journey is a reminder that access to clean water is not just about survival; it is about giving families good health and hope.
