Mya's favorite part of theatre is being on stage and helping bring stories to life. She especially loves singing harmonies and hearing everyone's parts come together to create a stronger performance.

Outside of theatre, Mya is involved in choir, JROTC, and serves as president of the Young Women organization at her church. As a first-generation immigrant and Spanish being her first language, Mya values hard work, teamwork, and connecting with people from different backgrounds.

We are so happy to have Mya as a part of our NAFO Theatre community.

Elissan's favorite part of theater is the sense of community and belonging it brings. One of her favorite memories was after performing in the Catch Me If You Can student show, when the cast gathered around the stage for lunch, proud of everything they had accomplished. It was a special moment that made her feel like she had truly found her people and a second home. Although she has been acting for a while, junior year was her first time participating in a musical and performing live on stage. Her favorite musical is In the Heights because of its upbeat and energetic music.

Outside of theater, Elissan enjoys writing scripts for fun and spending time with her friends and family. Fun fact: she can fly a plane!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

Maya’s favorite part of theatre is the community and getting to meet new people each season. She has been doing theatre since freshman year, with The Great Gatsby being her favorite show—especially after seeing it on Broadway in New York. Outside of theatre, Maya enjoys doing nails, reading, and going to concerts. She also runs her own business and loves to travel whenever she gets the chance!

Nathan Connell is a senior who has been involved in theatre since his sophomore year.

His favorite theatre memory is all the little goofs and jokes shared from inside the booth. His favorite show he’s worked on was The Lightning Thief, where he loved watching everyone bring their fantastical characters to life. Outside of theatre, Nathan enjoys playing video games, and practicing bass.

Josh has been involved in theatre for the past two years, beginning with NAFO’s production of Fools in 2024. He loves the challenge of developing skills in singing, dancing, and acting, and enjoys seeing his growth over time. Outside of theatre, Josh is a member of NAFO’s Esports team, plays Dungeons & Dragons, and works as a bagger at Harris Teeter. His favorite musicals include Hamilton, because of the amazing soundtrack, , Beetlejuice, he thinks it has the best set design and overall tech, and The Phantom of the Opera due to it having his favorite number, the titular number. We are so happy to have Josh as a part of our NAFO Theatre Community.

Emersyn is in her fifth year of theater and loves watching her friends grow and become better throughout each show. She especially enjoys being able to support her friends and be part of their journey. Her favorite musicals are Next to Normal and Hadestown, and she’s watched the Next to Normal pro shot and seen Hadestown numerous times. Outside of theater, Emersyn is a member of the Carolina Show Ski Team, where she competes in waterskiing. We are so happy to have Emersyn as a part of our NAFO Theatre community.
