Every child learns differently. Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences is one of the frameworks that shapes our curriculum at Ivybrook Academy.

Some children process the world through movement. Others through music, spatial reasoning, or interpersonal connection. Traditional classrooms tend to favor linguistic and logical-mathematical learners. Our blended curriculum is designed to honor all of them.

In practice, this means a single concept might be explored through building, drawing, group discussion, and hands-on experimentation within the same classroom.

Little feet are running, friends are finding one another, and familiar spaces are becoming places for new discoveries.

There is so much learning tucked inside these moments of curiosity, movement, imagination, and joy.

Celebrating 15 Years of Ivybrook Academy – Fort Mill! 🎉

For 15 years, our Fort Mill campus has had the privilege of welcoming children through our doors and creating a place where curiosity is encouraged, childhood is celebrated, and a lifelong love of learning begins.

Over the years, hundreds of children and families have become part of the Ivybrook story, and countless memories have been made within these walls. We are incredibly grateful for the educators who have poured their hearts into our students, the families who have trusted us with their children, and the community that has supported us along the way.

As we celebrate 15 years, we are reminded that Ivybrook has always been about so much more than a school; it’s about the people who make it a community.

Here’s to 15 wonderful years at Ivybrook Academy – Fort Mill and to all the little lives that will continue to fill these halls in the years ahead!

Through studying the work of famous artists, children are introduced to new techniques and materials, shaping the way they see and experience the world around them. They are then given the freedom to explore, create, and make something uniquely their own.

Because at Ivybrook, we believe the process of creating is just as meaningful as the finished masterpiece.

The learning environment at Ivybrook Academy is intentionally designed to teach.

Child-height shelves invite students to choose their own work. Defined areas for reading, building, and creating give children ownership of how they move through the classroom.

Every element is placed with purpose, designed to build independence, encourage focus, and support a child's ability to self-direct. When the environment does its job, children feel confident enough to take the lead in their own learning.

Is your child ready for preschool? Here is what readiness looks like.

Most parents focus on whether their child can sit still, follow directions perfectly, or separate without a single tear. While those milestones matter, they do not paint the full picture of early childhood development.

Here are a few true signs they may be ready:

‣ Interest in peers: They are beginning to show a genuine curiosity about other children.

‣ Basic communication: They can express their foundational needs through words, signs, or gestures.

‣ Emerging independence: They are starting to explore the world on their own terms, even in very small ways.

‣ Familiarity with rhythm: They have some experience following a daily routine, even a loose one at home.

If your child is not quite there yet, that is perfectly okay. Readiness is not a deadline. Every child arrives on their own unique timeline, and a thoughtful preschool environment is designed to meet them exactly where they are.

One of our favorite things about Ivybrook is watching children learn through real experiences.

When you walk into our classrooms, you will often find children observing bugs, caring for classroom pets, exploring nature, asking questions, and making discoveries every day. None of it is accidental. We intentionally create an environment that invites curiosity because we know children learn best by doing.

These are the moments that stick with them long after they leave our classrooms. It's hands-on, meaningful learning. And it's one of the many things that makes Ivybrook so truly special.
