✨ **My favorite days are the ones when I get to step back into the classroom and TEACH.** ✨

Someone asked me yesterday, “Why did you become a principal?” I jokingly said, “I don’t know!” 😂
But the truth is simple: **I truly love teaching.**
I love seeing the light bulb click on.
I love supporting our students, teachers, and our community.
I love collaboratively planning for our kids and watching great instruction come to life.

A huge thank you to **Mrs. Coffee’s class** for letting me jump in this morning and teach a reading lesson. My heart is happiest when I’m sitting with students, helping them identify and explain the moral of a story - *and* connecting it to real life. 💛📚

Days like today remind me exactly why I do what I do. 💛🦁✨

🖤 reviewing last week’s principal meeting notes
🖤 sending out our Sunday Night Newsletter to parents and families
🖤 creating a to-do list for this week
🖤 prepping for my 1:1 with my regional, and
🖤 revising our school improvement plan

Today is my last day with my power hour group as our testing schedule has started in full force. Today, my group were fully in engaged in completing a fun escape to review our ELA benchmarks!

One of my teachers volunteered to help me with a little homework assignment that I was assigned for an upcoming meeting and she didn’t get a chance to grade the task that I need to analyze. I told her no big deal, I would take it off her plate! So on a Sunday evening, I am watching the Oscars and grading 3rd grade ELA task. It is important as admin that we never forget what it is like to be a classroom teacher. It is the best way to support your teachers 🖤

My precious 5th graders and I are having a blast reading through “Hidden Figures.” We only have 5 chapters left then moving onto another title from the BEST Literature Library. What should we read next?!?!

Someone got back into the classroom today! This semester, as we lead up to PM3 FAST testing, I am teaching my own “level up” group and I am excited 🩷 These babies are about to find out how much Mrs. Harrison loves to teach reading! Our first book….Hidden Figures 🚀

Planning days are my favorite day of the week. I love being able to collaborate with and coach my teachers. What is your favorite tool to use during collaborative planning? This is my new favorite. It is a crosswalk between how collaborative planning supports instruction in the classroom. It truly helps facilitate solid conversations through planning

Today was my absolute very favorite PD day of the year!! We had our 2nd annual PRIDE Symposium. Teacher leaders volunteered to lead a PD session for their peers on topics that they were passionate about. Today’s PD was created by teachers for teachers 🖤 We had sessions focused on creating intentional small groups based on formative data, how to use de-escalation strategies in the classroom, engaging students using Kagan strategies, utilizing tools to analyze student data, and how to write grants to get more money for your classroom. I am very proud of these teachers and their leadership. It is a very vulnerable act to present in front of your peers 😊

This week, I get the honor of taking my first group of teachers to conference as an administrator! I am excited to learn and grow with this ladies this week at GYTO (GYLO for me 🥰)!!! Starting with gifts for my team, fun new tees and a Joe Bros Concert 🥰🥰
