Almost looking forward to when I need one!

Florida State Parks are expanding access to some of the state’s most popular beaches with new EcoRover track chairs. Funded through a partnership between the Florida State Parks Foundation and Surfing’s Evolution & Preservation Foundation, these chairs will be located at:

-Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park.
-Hugh Taylor Birch State Park.
-St. Andrews State Park.
-T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park.

Florida State Parks manage more than 100 miles of shoreline, and these new track chairs will help more visitors explore and enjoy these natural spaces.

I recently read the short article by Chase Pardue on 09/09/2026 on the uncertain future of the dam. I was really let down on the lack of facts! And certainly funny that an invasive species was mentioned as an important factor in keeping a dam. No mention of native species blocked by this dam! You didn’t mention anything about the significance to water quality going into the St. Johns or the loss of fish on the majority of the river all the way to Silver Springs. The pool behind the dam has become a muck/cesspool unfriendly to manatees and migratory fish. Natural rivers are supposed to move things and that includes fish. Fish can’t move up or down past this dam so that is why they congregate there. If the dam is breached fish will disperse and reproduce naturally once again. And the one person you quoted as no room to fish anywhere else? There are 5 + other upstream landings that were historically fished for Stripers, catfish and mullet! This is not a Putnam County issue as most of the river originates and flows through Marion County. There lies the real local issue. Marion County residents have had poor representation on voicing to get our river and fish back! And then a article like this just adds confusion! You didn’t mention the two bills that flew through the Florida legislative session and were not presented for a final vote in the Senate! These bills would have added a big boost to our local economy. The improvements/money would have drawn in locals and tourist to fish, paddle and brag about a 68+ mile river!
