Fort Madison students have been building a variety of projects alongside our shop teacher Ms. Roach, including birdhouses and their own wooden race cars.

Students are gaining practical experience through measuring, cutting, assembling, and designing their projects while developing skills they can carry with them beyond the classroom!

Fort Madison construction students are getting hands-on experience as they work together to build a home from the ground up with Mr. Schinstock.

Students are taking on different parts of the project, working with a variety of tools, materials, and construction techniques while learning how the different pieces of a home come together. From framing and assembly to the many details in between, students are gaining valuable experience throughout the build.

Our building repair and maintenance class got hands-on experience with new welding technology through a visit from Lincoln Electric.

Students watched demonstrations of some of the company’s equipment before getting the opportunity to try it out themselves. Experiences like this give students a chance to learn directly from industry professionals and see the tools and technology being used in the field.

Thank you to Lincoln Electric for spending time with our students and bringing hands-on learning opportunities into the classroom!

Congratulations to this week’s Camp FMES Campers of the Week!

Each week, FMCSD celebrates elementary students who show what it means to be safe, responsible, and respectful while demonstrating positive character throughout our school.

Here is what our teachers had to say -

Courtney - Kindergarten
Courtney has done an amazing job setting a good example fo rher classmates on how to be safe, respectful and responsible. She is ALWAYS kind to her friends, and is the first one to jump in to help anyone that needs it. She always has a smile on her face and makes everyone around her smile!

Joseph - 1st Grade
I nominate Joseph Brown for camper of the week because he is a great example of what we expect from our bloodhounds. He is safe inside and outside of the classroom, respectful to his teacher and peers, and responsible by always staying on task and working hard in the classroom.

Kash - 2nd Grade
Kash has done a great job being respectful to staff and students. He has gone out of his way to help his classmates when they need it. He is also willing to help staff whenever they need it.

Emma - 3rd Grade
Emma is always respectful of others. She is kind, helpful, and she tries hard in all she attempts to do.

Rhett - 4th Grade
Rhett is always willing to help. He is always doing what he is supposed to be doing. He is imporving on class participation and willingness to share his answers.

Harper - 5th Grade
Harper is responsible, kind, and always willing to step up and help others. Her helpful attitude and caring nature make a positive difference in our classroom each day. I am so proud of the example she sets for others!

Ashley - 6th Grade
Ashley always greets me with a smile on her face each morning. She is so kind to everyone she's around and shows empathy to others. This week Ashley noticed a peer was having a bad day and Ashley went out of her way at recess to check on the student and ask if they were okay. This simple, by kind gesture, showed her peer that she cares! What a great habit of character!!!

Our Cabin of the Month winners are blazing a trail at FMES!

These classrooms have demonstrated kindness, respect, responsibility, and teamwork throughout the school. From welcoming new students and helping them learn the ropes to including others, following directions, staying on task, and showing respect to teachers, substitutes, and staff, our campers are making a difference every day.

These classrooms continue to grow, make positive choices, and build supportive classroom communities where everyone belongs. We are proud of our Camp FMES campers!

The Bloodhound Volleyball team recently made a donation to Roxy’s Rack following their game at Bracewell Stadium in August.

Through a T-shirt sale and 50/50 raffle, the team raised funds to support Roxy’s Rack, an on-campus resource that provides Fort Madison students with items they may need, including clothing, shoes, coats, personal items, bookbags, and more, at no cost.

Thank you to everyone who supported the volleyball team and helped make this donation possible!
