The Waynesville R-VI School District Foundation presented a record-breaking $14,000-plus in grants to Waynesville R-VI teachers during Convocation on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026.

-Buses pick up 30 minutes later on Wednesdays.

Students in 4th, 5th and 6th grades may audition for the VOICES Choir from 4 to 6 p.m. on either Sept. 2 or Sept. 9, 2026, at East Elementary. Parents will need to provide transportation to and from the audition night.

Voices is an honor choir for Waynesville R-VI 4th-6th graders from all five elementary schools – East, Freedom, Partridge, Thayer and Wood, and the Waynesville Sixth Grade Center.

For those selected, the first rehearsal will be after school from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Parents and guardians must pick up their children at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at East Elementary. Concerts are scheduled for Dec. 7, 2026, and May 10, 2027.

There is a $25 fee for students who are selected to the choir. Families with more than one child in the current VOICES choir will pay $40. Ten scholarships are also available for discounted fees.

A Back-to-School Extravaganza will be hosted on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Waynesville High School parking lot.

This free community event will provide children with book bags, school supplies, food and additional resources to help prepare for the upcoming school year. Please note that tickets for book bags will be distributed beginning at 7:30 a.m., and a child must be present to receive a book bag.
