Engineer Advanced Leader Course

Named in honor of François Louis Teissèdre de Fleury, a French Engineer in the Continental Army the de Fleury Medal is an award of the Army Engineer Association honoring the French Engineer for his courage under fire at the 1779 battle at Stony Point, New York, winning him the accolades of Congress. During the battle to recapture the point, the Americans scrambled up the rocky slope with de Fleury in the lead. First over the wall, de Fleury followed by a wave of American bayonets rushed to the flagpole and cut the British colors from their staff.
For his heroic behavior, the Continental Congress awarded a medal struck in his honor.
The Engineer Regiment adopted the de Fleury Medal as an award because of the values demonstrated by the man for whom it was struck - values of special meaning to Engineer Soldiers.

The Engineer Regiment makes four award levels of the de Fleury Medal.
The Steel Medal may be presented to an individual whose selfless service provided to the Engineer Regiment as it supports the Army to assure mobility, enhance protection, enable expeditionary logistics, and build capacity in order to provide commanders with the freedom of action needed to win full spectrum operations in an era of persistent conflict.
The Bronze Medal may be presented to an individual who has rendered significant service or support to an element of the Engineer Regiment.
The Silver Medal may only be awarded to an individual who has rendered outstanding and significant support or service to the Engineer Regiment.
The United States Army Chief of Engineers awards only one GOLD medal each year to an individual who exemplifies boldness, courage, and commitment to a strong national defense.

Aug. 20, 2014, FORT LEONARD WOOD, Missouri – A bridging crew with 50th Multi Role Bridging Company, 5th Engineer Battalion, 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, wait as a Ch-47 Chinook, flown by the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade uses a sling-load method to lower a bridge bay during a combined arms gap crossing exercise. The U.S. Army is on its way to fielding new command posts are are more mobile, scalable, and survivable during close combat missions. The Command Post Integrated Infrastructure (CPI2) program addressed challenges posted by future land conflict. CPI2 also comes with a variety of armored and tactical vehicles to support the CPI2, including a Command Post Support Vehicle, which serves as a communications node for the brigade level and above.
