For Karen and Jean Kirsten, service didnโt end when they left the U.S. Army, it simply took a new direction. ๐บ๐ธ๐ฉบ
The twin sisters and Army veterans were recently featured by News4JAX as they begin NSUโs Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant program through the universityโs Military to Medicine pathway.
NSU was the first in the nation to create this kind of pathway program, designed to help veterans and service members transition into healthcare careers with added support and guidance throughout the admissions process. The program recognizes the incredible skills veterans already bring into healthcare and the growing need for more compassionate, highly trained professionals.
After years of military service, overseas deployments, and Karenโs battle with stage three breast cancer, the sisters are now preparing for careers focused on helping patients through some of lifeโs most vulnerable moments.

To the NSU graduates across every college, every program, and every ceremony, this moment belongs to you. You showed up. You put in the work. And now, you carry the Shark spirit with you wherever you go.

We saved some incredible energy for the final day of commencements!
New York Times-bestselling author Jeffrey J. Selingo took the stage twice today to speak to graduates from the colleges of nursing and osteopathic medicine.
His message that the path forward belongs to those who stay curious, adaptable, and willing to define success on their own terms was the perfect note to close out one of the most exciting commencement seasons in NSU history.
To every single graduate who crossed the stage: you make us incredibly proud. Go change the world, Sharks. ๐๐

Today NSU Commencement went from the depths of the ocean to the bright lights of the operating room. ๐๐ฉบ
This morning, the legendary Dr. Sylvia Earle, National Geographic Explorer at Large and one of the most celebrated oceanographers on the planet, delivered a powerful address to our arts and sciences and education graduates, reminding them that bold action and deep curiosity can change the world.
In the afternoon, Professor Rowan Parks, immediate past president of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) and a globally respected surgical leader, inspired our college of allopathic medicine graduates as they step into some of the most meaningful professions there are.

From the outer reaches of the stars to the inner reaches of the mind, todayโs commencements brought the inspiration in a massive way! ๐๐ง
This morning, physician, explorer, and former NASA astronaut, Dr. Scott Parazynski sent our dental medicine, optometry, and pharmacy graduates into the world with a charge to push boundaries, embrace resilience, and venture into the unknown.
Then this afternoon, NSU alumnus and nationally renowned trauma research leader Dr. Alan Peterson took the stage to an awesome soundtrack for our business, computing, and psychology graduates, proving that an NSU degree can take you all the way to the top of your field, but there is always a place for you back home.
To our Sharks who crossed the stage today: what a day to remember. Congratulations! ๐๐ฆ

Two ceremonies. One unforgettable message. Todayโs NSU Commencements delivered! ๐๐
New York Times-bestselling author Daniel Coyle took the stage for ceremonies today. First for undergraduate students in healthcare sciences, nursing, and osteopathic medicine, and again, this afternoon, for gradate law students.
Whether you're heading into a hospital, a courtroom, or anywhere in between, his message was the same: culture, connection, and talent are built, not born. And today, NSU sent out a graduating class ready to build something great.
Congratulations, Sharks. You've earned every bit of this.๐ฆ

Then this afternoon, world-renowned marine artist, scientist, and conservationist Guy Harvey, Ph.D. took the stage for our arts and sciences, computing, and law graduates, reminding them that passion and purpose can change the world.
