Awesome ASCEND meeting on April 14, 2018. Agenda: Meditation (Ms. Samuels), Team Development (3 Wishes), United Nations Research Review, Career Info - Dressing for Success, & College Visit/Tours. BIG thank you to Ms. Elizabeth Liz Pinnock for presentation on Dressing for Success, Ms. Angel Robinson for College Visit/Tours and Dr. Afrah Hamin & Ms. Lotty Jean for UN Review. The students enjoyed and participated in the presentations.

Today our ASCEND students participated in our annual Heart Healthy activity during the month of February. This year we dedicated this day and these activities to Soror Joi Freeman, our Ivy Beyond the Wall. Thank Tammy Lumpkins Starks and Nicole Bee Williams for leading our activities today! The weather was amazing and we all had fun.

On Saturday, May 14, 2016, we had our Annual ASCEND Career Day and it was a huge success. Thank you so much to our speakers for taking out time to speak to our students. Our presenters were Mrs. Shannon St. Clair, Entrepreneur, Mondell Alexis, Financial Analyst, Mr. William Hobbs, College Professor and Author, Denayja Payne, college student at the University of South Florida and Mrs. Ebony Sanon, Bio-Medical Engineer.

Ms. Keisha Harden provided a CPR demonstration with out students as a part of our Heart Healthy Month activity. Special thanks to Body Mechanic Fitness Club for hosting our ASCEND meeting today.

Today our ASCEND students participated in our annual Heart Healthy Month activity. Trainer Tony Ferguson of the Body Mechanic Fitness Club talked to our students about nutrition and he also showed the students exercises they could do at home. He recommended 30-40 minutes of exercising at least 4 days a week.

Today Dr. Rosalind Osgood spoke to our ASCEND students about being good leaders. She was phenomenal. Our ASCEND students also learned about the types of decisions in the decision making process. I love our ASCEND students!!!

"So You Want to Go to College"..... There will be a free college workshop for students in grades 9-12. Very important information will be provided to parents and students about the college application process. The workshop will take on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. The workshop will be held at the Lauderdale Lakes Library/Educational and Cultural Center.
