The AAHHE Latina Leadership Institute (LLI) is a dynamic professional development program tailored for early- to mid-career Latina professionals in higher education that aims to empower participants by enhancing their leadership skills, fostering a deeper understanding of their cultural identities, and equipping them to navigate and excel in academic and administrative roles. This intimate and impactful series provides essential leadership training, live engagement with experts and peers, and a trusted environment for open dialogue and connection. The LLI provides a safe and respectful space where all participants can share experiences and engage in candid dialogue.
Sessions will feature expert facilitators Dr. Azara Santiago Rivera and Dr. Patricia Arredondo, breakout rooms for small-group discussion, and opportunities for participants to engage in live dialogue with peers.

The American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) invites applications for the 2027 Outstanding Dissertation Awards (ODA), recognizing excellence in doctoral research and supporting the advancement of Latinx in higher education leadership.
The awards are open to any Latinx who has completed a dissertation as part of a doctoral degree program in the social sciences, broadly defined, and/or anyone whose dissertation research conducted as part of a doctoral degree program in the social sciences focuses on the Latinx community. Additionally, the dissertation needs to have been completed between December 2024 and August 7, 2026.
Applicants are encouraged to be AAHHE members. Please review the official guidelines for full details on eligibility, requirements, and evaluation criteria. Submit your application and dissertation summary via the AAHHE portal by August 7, 2026.

The AAHHE Outstanding Dissertation Awards Committee is seeking nominations for membership on the selection committee.
The duties include:
-reviewing dissertation summaries (approximately 25 pages each)
-rating dissertation summaries
-reviewing and rating full dissertations
-collaborating with colleagues to determine the award winners.
The review and selection period runs from mid-August to mid-October. During this time, the committee meets twice, to select the finalists and to select the award winners. The full commitment is approximately 20 hours.
Committee members must: be active members of AAHHE and must have a doctorate in education, social science, or related field. Members can be administrators, faculty, researchers, or institute directors. Experience with research methods and a familiarity with the current state of the scholarship in your field are necessary to evaluate the application materials.
The Outstanding Dissertation Awards Committee is an extremely rewarding opportunity to promote emerging Latinx scholars or those conducting research on issues that impact the Latinx community.
