Culture doesn’t happen by accident. It happens by what leaders model, celebrate, and repeat.

In a recent Lifework Leadership case study, Grace Kurian shared the values that shape a healthy team culture:

1️⃣ Exceeding Together: no solo wins, only team wins

2️⃣ Empowering Voices: not just diversity of demographics, but diversity of thought

3️⃣ Unified Victories: shifting from “I” to “we,” and reinforcing it through intentional recognition

A simple practice you can start immediately:
In your next team meeting, do a Focused Recognition. Name one person, one behavior, one impact:
“I want to recognize ___ for ___ because it helped us ___.”

Our next Lifework Leadership class is next Thursday, January 15. If you want to join us, comment “COURAGE” and we’ll DM you the link to learn more and sign up.

Most people start a new year by trying to fix their schedule, their strategy, or their outcomes.

offered a different starting point:

“You are the project. Nobody grows in a comfort zone. Disrupt yourself.”

If you want 2026 to look different, start deeper than habits. Start with who you are becoming.

A simple challenge for the first week of the year:

• Identify one comfort zone you’ve been protecting.
• Take one “disrupt yourself” step that requires courage.
• Choose character over control: show up with authenticity, integrity, purpose, and curiosity.

Because the impact you want “out there” begins with the work “in here.”

What’s one area you’re willing to disrupt as you start 2026?

Feeling the holiday hustle?

You’re not alone. Between work deadlines, travel plans, family obligations, and all the Christmas chaos, something important often gets pushed aside: real connection with the people you love most.

Lisa May from  reminded us of something powerful:

You can have a full calendar and still feel empty if your relationships are getting what’s left over instead of what’s best.

So here’s her challenge:
What if you scheduled your most important relationship like your most important meeting?

Block 10–15 minutes on your calendar tonight. Then actually show up.

Here’s how:

1️⃣ Phones down, TV off
2️⃣ Sit close—knee-to-knee, eye-to-eye
3️⃣ Share one thing you appreciated about each other in the last 24 hours
4️⃣ Ask: “What do you need from me this week?”
5️⃣ Close with a short prayer for each other

It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be present.

This Christmas, we’re wishing you more than a merry holiday we’re wishing you moments that matter. And if you’re not sure where to start?

Start small. Start tonight.

We visited at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) to hear from Don Campion, President / “Head Coach,” as he led our Lifework Leadership class through this month’s theme: compassion—and what it looks like when faith shows up in real leadership decisions.

Don’s story carries weight: born a missionary kid in Nigeria, shaped by a “build it, fix it, figure it out” upbringing, and later building Banyan from one small hangar into a thriving operation with 200+ teammates and a culture anchored in customer focus, honesty, and teamwork.

Then he gave us this line that ties it all together:
“If I had to pick one key for success in business, it would be to create a service culture and hire servant leaders, because leadership is not about rank and title, it’s about action and example.”

After the talk, we toured the facility. Hangars, maintenance, avionics, aircraft sales, and all the moving parts that make a world-class operation run. The big takeaway: compassion isn’t a poster on the wall. It’s a culture you build—one decision, one conversation, one example at a time.

Question for leaders: What would “action and example” look like in your workplace this week?

“Scripture gives us such clear guidance on relationships. If we were simply humble, gentle, patient, and bore with one another in love, most of our relationships would be strong and solid. Humility, gentleness, patience, and unity in the Spirit—that’s a pretty good roadmap for how to treat people.”
– Jim Morgan, former Chairman & CEO of Krispy Kreme and Wachovia Securities

Jim brought more than 50 years of leadership wisdom to our Lifework class, reminding us that great leadership always starts with great relationships.

And yes . . . we celebrated with !

Jesus spent 18 months building relationships before selecting His team.

No hype. No platform-building. Just proximity, patience, and presence.

Here are a few leadership principle to consider:

👉 The way you attract teammates is the way you will retain them.

👉 If people join you for money, titles, or prestige—you’ll have to keep offering more.

👉 If they join you because of trust, shared values, and real relationship—that’s what will hold them.

Worth remembering in a world obsessed with speed.

There’s something powerful about what happens around a table.

In just a few days, meaningful conversations sparked new friendships and reminded us that leadership growth happens best in community. These aren’t just moments of connection—they’re the foundation of transformation.

That’s the heartbeat of Lifework Leadership: helping leaders grow in character, community, and calling so they can live out their faith where they live, work, and lead.

Meet Ginger Martin, former President & CEO of American National Bank and a proud Lifework Leadership alumna.

When Ginger first joined Lifework, she had just stepped into her CEO role — and almost didn’t sign up because she was “too busy.” But what she discovered changed everything:

“Little did I know Lifework Leadership was going to be a lifechanger for me… it deepened my walk with God and helped me see how important it is to connect our business to our faith — and to live those values in the workplace.”

Today, Ginger continues to invest in leaders as a coach, speaker, and mentor — and we’re honored to have her leading our session on Knowing God during this year’s retreat.

Last night we gathered around dinner tables to reflect on leadership together.

We were joined by Bill Hansen — Founder & CEO of Hansen Catering & Event Production and instructor at FIU's Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. From his 55 years of hospitality leadership, Bill shared several lessons. A highlight was:

“High tech will never replace high touch, but high touch will be limited to your adoption of high tech.”

This sparked rich conversations at each table: How do we embrace technology while staying rooted in authentic relationships and people-first leadership?

That’s the heart of Lifework South Florida – creating space to learn, connect, and apply timeless principles in today’s world.

One of the values we discuss in Lifework Leadership is to love the city we live and lead in.

We step out of the classroom and into the community, serving at places like in Fort Lauderdale.

From reading with students to encouraging teachers, it’s a chance to put our faith into action and embody the leadership principles we’re learning.

Transformation doesn’t stop at the table. It happens when leaders engage, serve, and invest in the lives around them.
