tunately, Gigi was available, and I became her math student for two semesters, during my first and second year of university. Just as Gigi was recommended to me, I would highly recommend her as a teacher to any student struggling with math, at any level. Gigi Lavaggi holds a Bachelor of Chemistry from Simon Fraser University and has been working as a tutor for over four years. Although Gigi only assisted me with Fan X99 and Math 190, I know that she has numerous chemistry and physics students. I truly appreciated that Gigi went above and beyond to ensure that I understood my course material. She recognizes that everyone learns differently, and she adapts her teaching style to accommodate the needs of her students. To enhance my understanding, Gigi used drawings and physical objects to illustrate the math problems and modified her explanations when I need this approach. Math is an anxiety-inducing subject for many, including myself, but Gigi made me feel comfortable and confident. She always encouraged success. Reducing the stress surrounding the course work was very much appreciated, and Gigi always remained aware of how the lesson was progressing so as not to overwhelm. I respected that Gigi always asked to see the material before class so that she could review it and prepare her lesson plan beforehand. She was incredibly punctual, and class-time was well organized and productive. When Covid-19 put in-person lessons on hold, Gigi quickly arranged for all lessons to occur online, and students did not experience any significant downtime. In many ways, the online platform was preferable since it allowed for greater flexibility in scheduling our lessons. Still, Gigi was able to convey her empathy when I faced struggles and her friendly personality came through easily over Zoom. I feel very fortunate to have been introduced to Gigi. Her knowledge of the course material, skills as an educator and approachable personality ensured that I succeeded in my university math classes and laid a strong foundation for further math classes.
