Don't Just Trust the Abstract 🔍

Just because a study made it into a "prestigious" journal doesn't mean you should accept its conclusions uncritically.

In the latest episode of ABA on Call, Rick and Doug share seven questions, originally outlined by Hank Pennypacker, that every behavior analyst should ask when evaluating single case research. From the experimental question being asked, to the behavior being measured, to the design and data analysis, these questions give you a real framework for critical thinking.

They then put these questions to the test on a real published study, and the results reveal exactly why this framework matters.

Being a good consumer of research means going beyond the abstract. It means checking the methods, the measures, and the logic before accepting the conclusions.
