Jimmy’s Tips #4
Sometimes we step onto the mat and find the same tightness, the same resistance, the same pose that just will not open.
We assume it is simply a flexibility issue. A tight hip. A stiff shoulder.
Something that more practice will eventually fix.
But I want you to consider something deeper.
Ancient seers, the Rishis, believed that the body holds more than muscle and bone.
They believed we carry our history inside us, that specific moments, even traumatic ones, can live in the tissue itself.
The shoulders and neck are where most people first recognize this truth, carrying the weight of stress, worry, and things left unsaid.
But the body holds memory everywhere. The hips. The pelvis. The legs. The feet. Places we rarely think to question.
So the next time you find yourself stuck in a pose, pause before assuming it is only physical.
Ask yourself a different question. Am I simply inflexible here, or am I holding onto something from my past?
A moment. An emotion. A version of myself I have not yet let go of.
This is the deeper gift of our practice.
As we work to release tension in the body, we open the door to releasing what the mind and heart have been carrying too.
Hot Yoga was never only about the body. It is about using the body as a doorway into the mind, the emotions, and the soul.
Trust that doorway.
Walk through it. You may be surprised by what you find on the other side, and what you are finally ready to release.
Love & Light
