✨ Make Workouts More Interesting for Clients
Are your clients tired of doing the same movements on the same apparatus? The same basic, intermediate and advanced movements on the reformer and mat? Joe Pilates wanted us to strictly follow his system but he gave Pilates Instructors the ability to diversify each system by using all of the apparatus during the workout. Let’s see what that looks like!
Today we’re excited to release Jen O’Mara’s seminar topics: She is one of the Owners and Principals of the Classical Pilates USA™ Teacher Certification Program through U.S. Pilates™. These sessions will explore thoughtful, anatomy-informed strategies to build strength, stability, and mobility through the Pilates system.
💫Unlocking the Spine: An Anatomy-Driven Approach to the Spine Corrector
Spine Corrector is one of the most versatile yet underutilized pieces of Pilates equipment. In this anatomy-focused workshop, participants will explore how the apparatus can illuminate the relationships between spinal structure, muscular support, and movement efficiency. Through hands-on practice and anatomical insight, this session demonstrates how the Spine Corrector enhances spinal mobility, encourages balanced muscular engagement, and supports optimal alignment. Instructors will learn strategies for cueing, progressions, and modifications that help clients develop awareness of their spine while improving functional movement. Leave with a deeper anatomical perspective and practical techniques that will elevate your teaching and empower your clients to move with greater intelligence and ease.

Co-Founder of Classical Pilates USA™ Teacher Certification Program through U.S. Pilates™and Director of Education, Brett Howard will be presenting two seminars at this year’s symposium, and we’re excited to share his topics.
Creating a Strong Foundation on the Pilates Reformer
Students will take beginning fundamental Pilates Reformer exercises and organize them to create a strong foundation to build from. In this workshop , students will learn how to safely progress the exercises by forming a powerful base by deconstructing and simplifying Pilates exercises to then build onto. Students will examine the movement skills involved in the exercises, recognize like skills in other exercise and then develop strategies to build on top of the skills.
Stretch Strength and Control on the PIlates Wunda Chair
Students will delve into ways of building greater strength , mobility and control in all dimensional planes of movement using the Wunda Chair. Students will learn how to use scaffolds to create a strong foundation to then later build onto with higher skilled movements and exercises. Exercise variations from multiple Pilates Master Teachers are given and developed upon in the workshop.
Phoebe’s seminar series is an exciting lineup we’re looking forward to sharing. She brings a thoughtful and practical perspective to the work that we believe all attendees will enjoy.
✨ John Winters Wunda Chair
John Winters learned the Pilates Method from Joseph and Clara Pilates. He taught in the original Pilates Studio from the 1960’s-1980’s. He was also a classically trained musician and played the organ. John was a gifted and joyful Pilates Teacher! Phoebe Higgins was fortunate enough to study from him and learn this series on the Wundachair, which she wrote down because it was so fun!! Some of these exercises may feel new while others are familiar to most. As with most classical Pilates, this series warms the body to function optimally and then cools it down to continue on with one’s day. The genius of the Pilates Method and John Winters are evident throughout. This seminar is intended to be informative and fun. Just like John Winters!
✨ Supporting clients with Scoliosis
The Pilates Method can be incredibly beneficial for individuals with scoliosis, often helping to relieve discomfort and improve overall function. In this seminar, we will explore thoughtful modifications and adaptations designed to support clients with scoliosis, enhance their abilities, and ultimately improve their quality of life.
We’re excited to introduce Cary’s seminar topics. She will be presenting two topics designed to deepen your understanding and refine your teaching.
✨ Hands-On Cueing
Clear verbal cues and imagery matter — but skilled touch often makes the difference. In this session, Cary shares the hands-on tools she has refined over years of teaching. You’ll explore purposeful assists that enhance form, stability, length, articulation, mobility, and deep core connection — from the Hundred to Rocking Horse.
✨ Ladder Barrel & Pedi-Pole
Explore traditional exercises along with thoughtful variations on both apparatus. Using the Ladder Barrel to develop strength, control, and core stability, you’ll build the foundation needed to meet the balance and coordination challenges of the Pedi-Pole with confidence and precision.
Join us this fall in Washington, D.C., as we carry the tradition forward.
These six extraordinary presenters will honor the legacy of the work, enrich its presence today, and thoughtfully shape its future for the community we all cherish.

We are grateful to welcome Cary Regan back to the 2026 symposium line-up!
Cary began her Pilates training in 1975 at S.U.N.Y. Purchase under the direction of Master teacher Romana Kryzanowska. She earned her B.F.A. in Dance from S.U.N.Y. Purchase and continued her studies at the original Pilates Studio in New York City, where she deepened her understanding of the work through daily practice and teaching.
Teaching the authentic Pilates Method since 1981, Cary also served as one of the managers of Romana’s Pilates Studio, supporting its daily operations while helping preserve the integrity of the work during a formative period in its history.
Over the years, Cary has worked extensively in both New York and Seattle alongside physical therapists, chiropractors, orthopedists, and dance companies, bringing the Pilates Method into both rehabilitative and performance-based settings. While on staff at RE:ab Studio in NYC, she served as Brooke Siler’s assistant for the Authentic Pilates teacher training certification program, contributing to the education of future generations of teachers.
Currently teaching at Uptown Pilates, Cary continues — more than three decades into her teaching career — to share the work of Joseph Pilates with clarity, care, and conviction. Her enduring goal is for the benefits of the method, both preventative and rehabilitative, to become an integral part of daily life.
