Notice to Parents

Fort Huachuca School District has posted a new list of books that are being considered for addition to the Colonel Johnston Elementary and Colonel Smith Middle School libraries. Families are encouraged to review the list and share any feedback during the 60-day Public Review period, which commences on August 12, 2026 and ends on October 11, 2026.

The Arizona Healthy Schools Act A.R.S. 15-242.01 creates new changes to foods & beverages at school, classroom celebrations, birthdays, fundraisers, and school stores to create a healthy school environment.

Effective July 1, 2026, the Arizona Healthy Schools Act prohibits schools from serving, selling, or allowing for the distribution of ultra-processed food on the school campus during the regular school day.

Prohibited Ingredients
Potassium Bromate
Propylparaben
Titanium Dioxide
Brominated Vegetable Oil
Yellow Dye 5 and 6
Blue Dye 1 and 2
Green Dye 3
Red Dye 3 and 40

What does this mean for FHASD?
1. This law does not place any restrictions on lunches and snacks brought to school by individual students.
2. Welcome to the 2026–2027 School Year!

Good afternoon, FHASD families!

We hope your summer has been full of rest, fun, and quality time with loved ones. As we prepare to kick off a fantastic 2026–27 school year, please take a moment to read the attached welcome letters for each school. These letters include important information to help you and your student start the year off strong.

Our summer office hours will continue to be 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. until Tuesday, August 4th. Please join us for our Meet & Greet events on Tuesday, August 4th from 1:00–3:00 p.m. The first day of school is Wednesday, August 5th.

We are truly excited to welcome both new and returning students across our schools.
