🚀🐾 What a great way to kick off the school year with the Gouverneur CSD Wildcats! 🐾🚀

STARBASE Fort Drum is excited to be at Gouverneur Middle School’s Opening Day Orientation today, connecting with students and families and bringing a little hands-on STEM fun along with us!

Students and families are putting their engineering skills to the test by designing and launching pool noodle rockets! 🚀 From building to launching, it’s a fun way to explore STEM while seeing whose rocket can soar the farthest!

We’re so excited to welcome the Wildcats back for another school year and can’t wait to have their 5th graders join us at STARBASE Fort Drum soon! 💙

🚀🚌 Back-to-School STEM Fun at Clifton-Fine Central School District! 🚒✏️

Last Tuesday, STARBASE Fort Drum had a great time joining Clifton-Fine Central School’s Touch-a-Truck Back-to-School Night!

Students and families stopped by our table to get creative and build their very own pool noodle rockets! 🚀 It was so much fun watching everyone design, build, and test out their rockets while enjoying a little hands-on STEM together.

We loved having the opportunity to connect with Clifton-Fine students and families as they kicked off another school year. Thank you to Clifton-Fine Central School for inviting STARBASE Fort Drum to be part of such a fun community event!

✨ A Colorful Night at LaFargeville Central School District! ✨

We had such a great time last night connecting with students and families at LaFargeville Central School! 💙

Families stopped by the STARBASE Fort Drum table to create their own stained glass suncatchers using tissue paper and contact paper. 🌈☀️ We loved seeing all of the different colors, patterns, and creative designs come to life!

Outreach events like this are a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with our local school communities and give students and families a little taste of the hands-on creativity and learning we love at STARBASE Fort Drum.

🤖🌟 What a great night at St. James! 🌟🤖

Tonight, STARBASE Fort Drum had the opportunity to attend the St. James Meet & Greet, and we had a wonderful time connecting with students and families!

We brought along our Sphero robots, giving kids and families the chance to take the controls, navigate through mazes, and drive around our city rugs. 🤖🏙️ It was great seeing everyone jump in and enjoy some hands-on STEM fun!

We are especially excited to welcome St. James School Gouverneur as one of our partner schools for the 2026–2027 school year! 🎉 We can’t wait to welcome their students to STARBASE Fort Drum and begin this new partnership.

💧🌱 We wrapped up an incredible week at our Next Gen Innovators STEM Camp with an exciting final day of learning, discovery, and hands-on STEM! 🎉

Students started the morning by playing Two Truths and a Lie, a fun icebreaker that had everyone laughing while getting to know each other a little better.

Next, campers explored the importance of watersheds and participated in a Watershed Cleanup Challenge, learning how pollution affects our waterways and the role we all play in protecting our environment. They also learned about water purification and discovered why access to clean water is so important around the world.

We were honored to welcome Dr. Rush from the Fort Drum Cultural Resources Department, who shared her knowledge about archaeology, cultural resources, and the important work being done to preserve history here on Fort Drum. Thank you, Dr. Rush, for spending part of your day with our campers! 🏺🔍

To finish the day, students explored the fascinating world of hydroponics, learning how plants can grow without soil and how innovative technology is helping shape the future of agriculture. 🌱💧

What an amazing week it has been! We are so proud of all of our Next Gen Innovators for their curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and willingness to try new things. Thank you to our families, community partners, STEM collaborators, and everyone who helped make this camp such a success. We hope to see you again next summer!

⛰️🤖 Day 3 of our Next Gen Innovators STEM Camp was full of creativity, discovery, engineering, and teamwork! 🎨🚤

We started the morning by letting our creativity shine as students painted their very own rocks before diving into the fascinating world of geology. They learned all about different types of rocks and how they are formed, then put a sweet twist on science by creating their own “rocks” using Airheads candy! 🍬🪨

Next, it was time for some robotics fun! Students worked with our Sphero robots in two exciting challenges. One group engineered Sphero-powered boats, using the robots as the engine to see how well their designs moved through the water, while the other group put their coding and problem-solving skills to the test by navigating the Sphero Rug Challenge. 🤖💧

After lunch, everyone headed outside for an energetic Field Training Relay, where students worked together through a series of fun physical challenges that emphasized teamwork, communication, and perseverance. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

To round out the day, students explored two very different career fields! They learned about the important work of archaeologists, discovering how they uncover clues from the past, and also explored the world of athletes, learning about the dedication, discipline, and skills needed to compete at a high level.

Another incredible day of hands-on STEM learning, teamwork, and exploration! We can’t wait to see what adventures tomorrow brings!

🧠🔬 Day 2 of our Next Gen Innovators STEAM Camp was full of creativity, teamwork, and problem‑solving! 🎈📊

Students kicked off the morning with a “Who Am I?” game, then jumped into our Ball Engineering Challenge using balloons and other materials they “purchased” from the STARBASE STEM Store to design the highest‑bouncing ball. They tested, measured, and calculated their team averages. Engineering + math + teamwork in action!

To finish the day, campers became codebreakers in a Cipher Wheel Treasure Hunt across the STARBASE facility, decoding clues that led them to a 3D‑printed prize! 🗝️✨

Our innovators continue to amaze us with their curiosity, creativity, and determination. We can’t wait to see what they discover next!

🚀 Day 1 of Next Gen Innovators Summer Camp was an incredible success! 🚀

Today, our campers stepped into the role of engineers as they tackled exciting hands-on STEM challenges throughout the day!

🏗️ Students put their engineering and problem-solving skills to the test by designing and building a cup infrastructure that could safely travel through an obstacle course without toppling over.

💻 Campers were introduced to Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and learned how engineers use technology to turn ideas into real-world solutions.

🦊 We also explored nature’s camouflage, discovering how different animals adapt to blend into their environments before creating their own folded paper animals inspired by those amazing adaptations.

✈️ A huge thank you to our STEM collaborator, Justin Terpstra from New York Air Break, for spending the day with us! Justin shared what it’s like to work as an engineer, answered students’ questions, and challenged them to design and build paper airplanes. We wrapped up the activity with a fun competition to see whose airplane could soar the farthest!

We can’t wait to see what exciting adventures tomorrow has in store for our Next Gen Innovators! Stay tuned! 🚀🔬⚙️✨
