Coach Faiferlick: “Our state championships bring top quality and world class athletes from Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and even Texas. We had several referees with international status. Our Iowa competitors displayed incredible effort and sportsmanship all day. This gives our athletes an opportunity to learn what else they need to do to compete at the national championships and gives us time to make those improvements."

The 2020 NCTA National Collegiate & High School TKD Championships are USA Taekwondo-sanctioned events and serve as qualifiers for the 2020 USA Taekwondo National Championships for all but the Collegiate Team Trial events. Please see below for a table summarizing the events that will be held during the weekend, along with their corresponding 2020 USA Taekwondo National Championships qualifying information and USA Taekwondo ranking points. New this year, the high school divisions will be split into two age groups: 15-17 and 18-19. The 15-17 divisions are a USAT 4.0 event. The 18-19 divisions do not carry a USAT ranking.
The 2020 National Collegiate Sparring and Poomsae Team Trials are included in this event, which will determine the USA team for the 2020 FISU America Games. The likely travel dates for the 2020 FISU America Games will be May 31 through June 5, 2020 in Merida, Mexico, with Taekwondo competing June 2-4.
Although not finalized until the sanction is approved by USA Taekwondo, this table provides our best understanding of the age limits and ranking level of each of the competition divisions at the NCTA Championships. The information is subject to revision, but for planning purposes should give athletes and coaches an idea of what to expect.
Please view the event link 2020 NCTA National Collegiate & High School TKD Championships for detailed schedule. We look forward to hosting an amazing experience for our Taekwondo community.
