🎒🌊 Our Intermediate 4-H trip to Kansas City has been a blast! Yesterday, 4-Hers spent the day making memories at Oceans of Fun before finishing the evening with thrills and excitement at Worlds of Fun.

Today, the group had the opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes tour of Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals.

What an amazing experience filled with fun, learning, and new adventures! βšΎπŸ’™

πŸ’šπŸ€ Webster County 4-Hers, need help with your Record Book? πŸ€πŸ’š

Kathy McCoy graciously gave permission for me to share this helpful video with our county! In the video, Gabby McCoy walks youth through the 4-H Record Book process and shares tips to help you get started and stay organized.

Record books are more than just a 4-H requirement. They help you develop real-world skills like record keeping, organization, goal setting, and reflecting on your experiences. The same skills you practice while completing your record book can help you build a resume, apply for scholarships, prepare for interviews, and document accomplishments for future jobs, leadership positions, and college applications.

As you look back on your year of projects, trips, camps, community service, and fair experiences, use your record book to tell your 4-H story and celebrate all you've accomplished!

πŸ€βœ¨ Congratulations to Deb Shelton!βœ¨πŸ€

Please join us in celebrating Debra Shelton on her induction into the 2026 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame! This prestigious honor recognizes her outstanding dedication, leadership, and lifelong commitment to Iowa 4-H and the youth she has served for more than two decades.

Debra will be officially inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame on Sunday, August 23, at 3:30 p.m. We invite family, friends, fellow 4-H members, alumni, and community supporters to join us in celebrating this remarkable achievement and the incredible legacy she has built through 4-H.

Debra's 4-H journey began as a member of the Byron Green Leaves 4-H Club in Buchanan County, where she developed a passion for learning, leadership, and service. Coming from a family deeply rooted in 4-H, with her grandmother, mother, and sisters all involved in the program, she embraced the values of 4-H early in life and has continued to live them ever since.

For the past 23 years, Debra has served as the leader of the C/C Sidekicks 4-H Club, dedicating countless hours to mentoring, encouraging, and supporting young people. Through her guidance, members have grown not only in their project work but also in confidence, responsibility, citizenship, and leadership. She has a unique ability to make every young person feel valued, welcomed, and capable of achieving great things.

Debra is known for her kindness, patience, and unwavering support of youth. Whether helping a first-year member complete their first project, encouraging members to step outside their comfort zones, or celebrating the successes of her club members, she consistently puts the needs of young people first. Her influence extends far beyond club meetings, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of the youth and families she serves.

One of Debra's greatest strengths is teaching by example. Through numerous community service projects, she has shown generations of 4-H members the importance of giving back and making a difference in their communities. She has instilled in young people the values of compassion, integrity, hard work, and service, helping them become leaders both within and beyond 4-H.

Over the years, Debra has helped shape countless young people into confident adults who carry the lessons they learned through 4-H into their schools, careers, families, and communities. Her dedication has strengthened the 4-H program and created opportunities for generations of youth to learn, grow, and succeed.

Debra truly embodies the 4-H motto, "To Make the Best Better." Her passion for youth development, commitment to service, and belief in the potential of every young person have made an immeasurable difference in the lives of so many.

πŸ’šπŸ€ Congratulations, Debra Shelton, on your induction into the 2026 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame! πŸ€πŸ’š

Your dedication, leadership, and service have inspired generations of 4-H members, and this recognition is a well-deserved celebration of the remarkable legacy you have created. Thank you for everything you have done for 4-H and the countless young people whose lives you've touched along the way. We are incredibly proud to celebrate this outstanding achievement with you!

At the Webster County Fair, ribbons and awards are exciting, but sometimes the most memorable moments happen outside the spotlight. πŸ“ΈBraydie Fors captured this moment!

When a young exhibitor was struggling with a difficult goat in the show ring, Sylvia Wacholtz noticed. Instead of focusing on her own success, she stepped in to help. Drawing from her own experience with a goat that "loved to jump, pull, fight, and test her patience," Sylvia took the time to encourage the younger exhibitor, helping calm the animal and, more importantly, helping the young girl find her confidence.

Sylvia reminded her not to be afraid, coached her through the challenging moments, and stayed by her side until she felt comfortable handling her goat herself. She later shared that watching the young exhibitor gain courage was the best part of the experience. She believes that showmanship isn't just about winning, it's about building confidence, sharing knowledge, and helping the next generation succeed.

As Sylvia's 4-H career comes to a close, her commitment to helping younger members is a reminder of what 4-H is truly about. Leadership isn't measured by banners or trophies. It's measured by kindness, mentorship, and taking the time to lift others up.

Thank you, Sylvia Wacholtz, for showing us what it means to be a 4-H leader. The impact you made that day will be remembered long after the fair is over. πŸ’šπŸ€
