McSweeny's School of the Performing Arts is a music school located in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The school has five professional music instructors offering private music lessons in voice, piano, violin, guitar, ukulele, instrumental music, specializing in brass, woodwind and percussion and participation in the Fort Dodge Area Children's Chorus (grade 1-8). Voice students are frequent semi finalists and fi

nalists in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competitions, are frequently cast as musical leads in area school and community musical theatre productions and continue to be consistent recipients of college vocal music scholarships. Younger vocalists and instrumentalists are encouraged to pursue musical excellence through participation in the Youth Honors Recital and perform in area Bill Riley State Fair Talent Search Shows during the summer. All students demonstrate their progress and quest for musical excellence through participation in bi-annual recitals held in December and May. McSweeny's School of the Performing Arts has a private recording studio, sound booth, and a large stage and concert hall. McSweeny's School of the Performing Arts is the host of the Youth Honors Recital sponsored in part by the Fort Dodge Area Symphony for outstanding young soloists. The recital is open to vocalists and instrumentalists 8th grade and younger. McSweeny's School of the Performing Arts is also host of the annual Desiring the Arts Festival. Desiring the Arts Festival connects and provides concerts and educational workshops for youth and adults in Fort Dodge and the surrounding area with working professionals from all over the world specializing in the arts. The recording studio also has a lot of in-studio instruments including guitars, drums, keyboards and microphones to get your project sounding great. The recording studio run’s sixteen tracks of simultaneous recording and has a private sound booth and studio room. Mobile recording is also available on location. Growing up on an Iowa dairy farm shaped who I am, and I love sharing those roots with my students through the Bill Riley Talent Shows each summer. County fairs celebrate the traditions, talents, and strong sense of community that make Iowa so special.

Singers from McSWEENY’S SCHOOL of the Performing Arts who participated in the Wright County Fair Bill Riley Talent Show on Wednesday, July 8!

🌟 Aubrey Dooley performed “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid and earned 2nd Place in the Sprout Division! Aubrey is 9 years old, the daughter of Drew and Alyssa Dooley, and will be entering 4th grade at Eagle Grove Elementary School this fall.

🎶 Emily Scott performed “My Heart Will Go On” in the Senior Division. Emily is 16 years old, the daughter of David and Jodi Scott, and will be a junior at St. Edmond High School this fall.

🎭 Harper Lampe performed “Live Out Loud” from the musical A Little Princess in the Senior Division. Harper is the daughter of Jason and Emma Lampe and will be entering 9th grade at Fort Dodge Senior High School this fall.

🎵 Ian Olmos performed “There Are Worse Things I Could Do” from the musical Grease in the Senior Division. Ian is a recent graduate of Humboldt High School and the daughter of Jesus Olmos and Zugey Venegas. She will be attending Iowa State University in the fall.

I am so proud of each of these delightful young women for sharing their talents and representing McSWEENY’S SCHOOL of the Performing Arts with grace, confidence, dedication, and heart.

Thank you to all the men and women who have served our country in the military, police and fire departments. I come from a family of military men with my grandfather serving in WW I, my father was a pilot serving in WW II, and my husband Michael and his brother David served during the Vietnam War.
