Priscilla Machovec, a student at our Webster City center, earned her High School Equivalency Diploma! Read her story below.
"Completing my HiSET was a journey that took a lot of strength, determination, and perseverance. I had attempted to complete it before, but life brought many challenges that made it difficult for me to stay focused and finish. I felt overwhelmed and wondered if I would ever be able to accomplish my goal.
Going to Webster City was a major step for me. Having the career navigators there to support me, encourage me, and push me to keep going made a huge difference. There were many times when I wanted to quit because I was dealing with a lot of stressful things in my personal life while trying to complete my HiSET. Some days were harder than others, and I did not always believe that I could finish.
Completing my HiSET is one of the accomplishments I am most proud of. I overcame difficult circumstances, continued even when I wanted to quit, and proved to myself that I could do it. This experience taught me that sometimes you have to make difficult changes in your life to move forward. I hope my story can encourage someone else who may be struggling or thinking about
giving up.
I finished my HiSET not because the journey was easy, but because I refused to let the challenges I faced be the reason I stopped. I did it for myself, for my children, and for the better future I knew we deserved."
