Dear NATA Community,

After 25 years of dedicated service as the Northwestern Area Training Academy for fire and EMS training, we regret to announce the closure of NATA due to a decline in attendance. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported and attended our training programs over the years.

Your commitment to excellence in emergency services has been the driving force behind NATA's success. In recognition of your unwavering support, we are allocating the remaining funds towards a yearly $500 Bruce Holm scholarship, fostering the spirit of learning and dedication to our field.

As we bid farewell, let us remember that sometimes, an end is just a new beginning. In the words of Winston Churchill, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts." We hope that NATA's legacy will remain in the hearts of those it touched, and we look forward to a potential reemergence when the need for such vital training arises again.

To all those who continue to serve in the EMS and fire services, we extend our deepest gratitude. Stay safe, and thank you for your unwavering commitment to the well-being of our communities.

Sincerely, The NATA Team

Even if your approach to getting something done is ‘just going in and getting it done’, you are physically doing something. What that is either works or it doesn’t and you can either teach it to someone or you can’t.

You wouldn’t hand a charged hose line to a 6 year old and just say try it. You wouldn’t just open a hand line and walk away from it. It’s something that needs to be controlled and water has to be placed in a certain manner to be effective. This isn’t about perfection and it’s not about popularity, it’s about teaching skills so we can be effective.

The intent of this video and the short series to follow is to echo and amplify the work of Instructors and their cadres. Seek out and learn from as many of them as you can. These tips barely scratch the surface of what their courses have to offer. This is not an exhaustive list:

Andy Fredericks
Jeff Shupe
Aaron Fields - Nozzle Forward
Kyle Romagus @smoothbore cartel - Cruel Intentions
Jay Bonnifield - Anatomy of a Push
Adam Maiers @amaiers - Engine Zero @enginezeroactual
Tom Hollick @hollicktom Kevin Pfluger @kevin_plfuger_ - The First Line Engine Ops @mvfirerescuetx
Manny Barajas @manny_b210 @andyfredericksghost
