Hello FDES Family! Please familiarize yourself with the upcoming events that will take place at Fort Deposit Elementary School for the month of November. Each child received a November Math Newsletter detailing the plans for Numeracy November Activities along with a flyer for our District-wide Math Night.

Math Coach Ms. Carnes is committed to student-centered coaching at Fort Deposit Elementary. There are many benefits of participating in a math coaching cycle. The math coach and teacher work side by side to analyze student data, use formative assessments to co-plan and co-teach engaging lessons that help learners develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts which supports student discourse, student engagement, problem-solving, and ultimately producing “proficient” mathematicians. Congratulations to fourth grade teacher, Mr. Michael Burns, for participating in a full coaching cycle. Mr. Burns’ students are deepening their conceptual understanding of fractions through student-centered activities. We look forward to seeing the progress our students will make in math this school year!

Social Work Month encourages support of the profession, uplifts social workers, and celebrates their contributions.

Fort Deposit wants to wish everyone a HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY.

International Women's Day (IWD) is a holiday celebrated annually on March 8th as a focal point in the women's rights movement.

Last week the Fort Deposit Elementary School began accepting STUDENT applications for a few new positions within the library.

Assigning roles helps to distribute responsibility among groups and ensures accountability for all students' participation. As students practice different roles, they have the opportunity to develop a variety of skills.

The students happily completed the job applications and are eagerly waiting to find out if they have been hired.
