CT EMS peeps who are sick of the rat race-this is a nice place to work . Opportunity for an experienced, patient-oriented provider to really make a difference in a small community, to mentor new EMTs, and to apply your skills and knowledge in a place with good pay and benefits, where you are appreciated and not just meat in the seat .🚑

HVAS is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, hybrid volunteer agency in Middlesex County, just south of Middletown on the CT River.
We currently have a full-time career staff position available. Candidate must be an experienced EMT with the flexibility to cover some evening or weekend shifts in addition to the regular day-shift schedule. Friendly, community-oriented volunteer and career partners to work with, comfortable working conditions, uniforms, health insurance, PTO, and a CE program are provided.

Organizations rarely fail because of one catastrophic event. Most decline gradually while convincing themselves everything is basically okay. They cover another shift, postpone another policy update, cancel another EMT class, depend on the same five people for one more year.
Then one day everyone says, "I can't believe they closed!"
Can a volunteer squad adapt, thrive, and plan for the future if its leaders no longer believe a future is possible?

Tonight at 7pm before our Redesigning Volunteer EMS open chat,, Kelly Grayson and I will record the first episode of a new weekly podcast for all of our EMS peeps- EMS Unfiltered. We will be recording every week and releasing the (lightly) edited audio/video on Friday afternoons. The permanent platform TBD, but we will be on social media to start.

Reminder: tonight's podchat is at 8pm ET.
We've been talking about standards, public perception, funding, recruitment, and retention.
Volunteer agencies struggling with these issues have repeatedly offered the same explanations for as long as I can remember.
Are they accurate? Probably not.
Why? Because most originate in the volunteer EMS echochamber.
The public isn't in that conversation. They're watching and listening to what is put out there, and questioning what they see in action.
The research shows their perspective on volunteer EMS and fire does not align with the message we think we are sending.
Tonight, we will talk about owning responsibility for the future of volunteer EMS and changing the narrative to meet actual expectations, not outdated assumptions.🚑🚑🐝 @topfans
