The networking opportunities and connections built through the Legends of Ranching program are truly invaluable, opening doors to experiences and careers across the ranching industry.
Yesterday, students from the 2025-2026 class had the opportunity to attend the Phipps Land and Livestock branding, where they dove into all aspects of ranch work and branding operations.
Among those attending were Morgan Nolta, Caroline Wagoner, and Phoebe Storm, three students whose ties to Phipps Land and Livestock go far beyond a single day on the ranch. Phoebe, the 2026 Legends of Ranching Marketing Competition Champion, completed her championship project on PLL Sippin Moonshine, a filly consigned to the program by the Phipps. Caroline, a c**t training student, trained and showed PLL Sippin Moonshine, leading the talented filly to the winner’s circle. Morgan Nolta, also a c**t training student, joined them for the day, continuing to build relationships and gain practical industry experience.
We are grateful to the Phipps for investing in the next generation of equine professionals and providing our students with opportunities to learn, work, and grow alongside industry leaders.
Go Rams! ✨

It is with great pleasure that we introduce the 2026–2027 Colorado State University Legends of Ranching Teaching Assistants!
These five young women have consistently demonstrated professionalism, grit, resilience, and coachability through every high and low, and we are honored to welcome them back into the arena.
Being a student of the horse is no easy task, and each of these horsewomen has embraced the challenges and rewards that come with the journey. We’re excited to see them continue growing in their horsemanship while helping guide and encourage the next group of Legends students along the way.
Congratulations to our 2026–2027 Teaching Assistants, we can’t wait to see all you accomplish this year!

Nicole Romano, a recent graduate of Colorado State University and Legends of Ranching, is making an exciting move to give back to the program that played a pivotal role in shaping her incredible journey.
We would like to introduce the NR TOP SCHOLAR AWARD, presented in the form of a buckle. 🎉
Created to recognize students who excel both academically and within the Legends of Ranching program, this award reflects Nicole’s deep appreciation for the opportunities, mentorship, and personal growth she experienced during her time in LOR. By establishing this award, she hopes to encourage and celebrate students who are committed to pursuing excellence in and out of the classroom.
Initial eligibility requirements include:
* A cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher upon entering LOR to be considered as a candidate for the award.
* Candidates must have maintained “good” academic standing with the university for at least two consecutive semesters prior to entering LOR, according to RamWeb.
* Students from any major are eligible for consideration.
Thank you for generously creating and offering an award like this! It’s people like you who make this class so special ❤️
