Hey, all you wonderful Lobo Alums! It's time for the annual shout out to invite you all to join us at this year's Lobo Howl on Saturday, Jan. 27th. After my appendectomy last month, I'm not above using pathos to appeal to you, either (see the picture!). The tournament is going to be very big, so we need lots of help. But more personally, I'd love to see as many of you as possible! Rounds start at 8, and hopefully we'll be at Pappy's celebrating by 9:30 that night. Hope to see from--or at least hear a life update--from all of you!

A big shout out to the awesome alums who came back to Rocky last Saturday to help out the program by judging at the 2016 Lobo Howl: Matt Stermer, Thomas Newman, Sammi Reed, Jacob Munro, Annika Gustafson, Brian Lamb, Ryan Kane, Elijah George, Skyler Bowden, Michael Harrison, Dylan Price, Lydia Funke, and Andi Heath! Love you guys and appreciate you all coming out to help! Sorry if I missed anyone, and sorry we weren't able to do Pappy's that night. A rain check is definitely in order, so keep your eyes open for an invite!

Hey, Lobo Alums, it's that time of year again. The Lobo Howl is this weekend, Saturday the 23rd, and I hope a lot of you will be able to make it in to judge. 25 CX teams, 40+ LD and PF entries, and big numbers in everything. We'll hit Pappy's afterwards, so please plan to join us there. Hope to see a lot of you this weekend!

Great weekend at NQs in Greeley. 9 qualifiers--equaling the 2nd best in team history. We also took Debate Sweeps, Speech Sweeps, and overall Tournament Sweeps (the 8th in 10 years). First LD close out since 2004.
Jonathan Fanning, Lyssa Lombardo, Sarah Speights, Marcus Viney (my student teacher), Brian Lamb, Nathan Jones, Grace Hanley, Gina Difelice, Keifer Maizland, Steven Sorensen--you all had a hand in this, so thanks for your time and help this year!
Qualifiers: Emily Carlson and Dylan Price in Drama; Bethany Calahan and Sammie Leo in LD (Sammie's a freshman!); Dani Harton and Nate Bethke in Duo (Nate's 3rd time qualing); Maddi Lynch in FX (her 2nd trip); Sean Bray in NX (straight 1s in Finals to move up from 5th!); Thomas Newman in HI. Amazing job guys.
Rocky picking up its 3rd Leading Chapter Award, too, which is based on a cumulative total of district tournament rounds since a school's last time winning it. Usually takes 15+ years to win one. Our last one was just 7 years ago--so to EVERY team member since 2005, YOU'RE AWESOME!
Oh, and Fanning has to dye his hair afte the LD close out. Guess he didn't learn from me having to shave my head back in 2003: never bet against Rocky accomplishing the amazing!

Nat Quals are this weekend, April 5-6, at Northridge in Greeley. Need some experienced judges starting at 1:00 on Friday and at 7:45 on Saturday. Cash money! Please come help us get this tournament done in a timely manner (we didn't finish until 1:00 a.m. last year!). Hope to see some of you there!

Fossil Ridge is hosting this Saturday, and they're desperately in need of judges. Only 6 (yes, six!) judges showed up at Thompson Valley last week. So if you're in town and want to make some quick money/help out the tournament, please head on over to Fossil!@

Thanks also to Nicki, Brian, Nathan, Emily, Luke and others who've dropped in of late to help the team--and, of course, to MC Fresh!

Shout out to this year's team for its strong showing at State last weekend. Michael Harrison and Nate Bethke set a new interp standard for Rocky by finishing 2nd in Duo, our highest interp finish ever! Close behind were Kelly Pollard and Jovan Rivera-Lovato (4th in Duo) and Maddi Lynch and Sean Bray (4th in PF). W***y Kelly and Sam Wellington both made semis and finished 12th in NX and OO, respectively. Great job, all--and thanks to Austin, Trent, Peter and other alums who showed up to visit and/or to judge!

Hey All (esp. Boulder alums)--Fairview is hosting a massive tournament (80+ LDers and PF teams!) this weekend. Please come judge for them if you can. Also, keep these dates in mind:
March 2-3, State Quals at Longmont High
March 16-17, STATE at Fort Collins High
March 30-31, Nat Quals at Greeley Central

Good money to be made at all! And I'll actually be at each of these (though not this weekend), so it would be great to see some of you!
