ArcGIS Pro 3.7 is out - and we didn't even get past the first bullet point before wanting to share:
You can now control layer visibility by map frame in a layout.
This means you can have one Map item, added as two Map Frames in a Layout, and show/hide different layers.
oh, happy day!

Our last event of the semester!
Monday May 4, 1 - 2:45pm
Do you collect geospatial field data?
Come learn all about the latest high accuracy GNSS equipment, mapping apps, RTK options, and drones, at FIELD DATA DAY.
Cameron McKeeby, Applied Geospatial Engineer at Frontier Precision, will do a presentation on field data collection tech, followed by an outside, hands-on demo with various GNSS units and mapping apps.
1:00 - 1:45 pm: Presentation in MSNR Rm. 142 (and online)
1:50 - 2:45 pm: Hands-on demo of the equipment and practice data collection just outside the MSNR building
Hosted by the Geospatial Centroid and the Warner College of Natural Resources GIS-Remote Sensing Seminar class

What is Northern Water doing with drones?
Lots!
We learned all about it this afternoon from GIS Analyst Madison Wood. (And she brought some cool drones to check out)
Thank you, Madison for sharing your time and expertise with us!

Many thanks to our Coding in Geospatial panelists the other day:
Caitlin Mothes,
David Puckett,
and Lydia Kimball
Take-aways:
Should you incorporate coding into a geospatial education? Absolutely.
Should you incorporate AI into learning coding? Yes. - - BUT - - You need to understand the basics so you know how to write prompts, understand terminology, correctly interpret outputs, and break down error messages. AI can also be a great learning tool.
Do you need to be a "computer scientist" or "programmer" to write code? NO! But knowing a little can take your skills further and streamline workflows.
We did record the discussion, if you want the link, DM us!

Join us at for the next Leave it to the Beavers monthly speaker series on May 12, 6-8pm, with Scott Shahverdian, Design Geomorphologist, Riverscape Science and Stewardship, LLC.
Beaver are a critical driver of ecological health in many riverscapes in the Western United States. Stream restoration that mimics and promotes beaver dam building is increasingly being promoted to address the impacts of climate change, mitigate wildfire and post-wildfire impacts, restore and protect fisheries, and improve productivity on working lands.
In this presentation, Scott will discuss how to plan, design, and implement stream restoration projects that mimic and promote natural beaver dam building.
Space is limited - register at bit.ly/beavers26 (LINK IN BIO)
About the Leave it to the Beavers series
This speaker series, co-hosted by Wildlands Restoration Volunteers (WRV), the Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed (CPRW), Larimer Conservation District (LCD) and Rocky Mountain Flycasters (RMF) brings together experts, enthusiasts, and community members passionate about the important role beavers play in creating resilient ecosystems. In addition, learn about low-tech, process-based restoration projects in the Poudre Watershed that are improving habitat and encouraging the return of beavers.

We're not sure who had more fun at the Colorado State University Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering Society of Women Engineers Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day - the kids or us!!
We talked about GIS layers, terrain, and how we move water through mountains to fill Horsetooth Reservoir, and... what happened to Stout!?
Most importantly though, we made reservoirs out of clay and learned a few new things.
